  1. I didn't rent the vest. We had done the wave runner and were only planning to snorkel for a short time before heading back to the ship, so we decided it wasn't worth it. We did go out briefly with our cameras and masks to see what could be seen (not much compared to other sites I've visited).

And when we got home we ordered snorkel vests from a->z so it wouldn't happen again. I think they were pretty cheap, but it was 3 years ago and I'm comparing the memory of buying vests to the memory of buying my dive gear, so ymmv.

  2. Per your clipping, each wave runner with an underage rider need to have a parent or guardian on the craft. I think your real question here is what constitutes a guardian (assuming you are not a three parent household of time travelers). That is a question for NCL, or possibly the fine legalese print on the excursion agreement.

  3. The one thing I will add to this, when you call NCL make sure you are calling a number you get from ncl.com. If you are calling a number on the spam message, you may not be calling Norwegian, but the scammer themselves.

This is true for all phishing, or scam emails, or phone calls. If someone calls you claiming to be from a company, or the government, unless you are expecting the call, tell them now is not a good time, and hand up. Look up the correct number for the company in the white pages or online and call them directly. Protect your identity and your information. No one else will.

  4. Clearly NCL has not yet hit the correct price point for the Vibe. When demand exceeds supply by this amount, capitalist principles clearly state the price is too low. At least if you buy Adam West and his invisible hand.

  5. We took the train from Seward to Anchorage but it left in the afternoon so we did an Alaskan Adventure, which included dog sleds, glacier viewing with a nice hike, lunch and watching salmon run. Then we had dinner on the train. We went gold star so we had the dome car and drinks included.

Everything was booked through Alaskan Railroad cause we continued on from Anchorage to Denali and finally up to Fairbanks to catch our flight home. Was a wonderful post cruise experience. If I were doing it again I might do what @bccruiser did and reverse the trip so I get the relaxing sea days at the end, instead of all go go go in the Alaskan interior.

  6. We did the glacier hike in Juneau last year, end of June early July. We were decked out by the excursion people with waterproof pants and jackets, but underneath we were wearing layers: thermals, fleece and a windbreaker. It rained on us and we were on the ice for about 3 hours. Had a ball and were never cold.

  7. After a long while, the chlorine from the pools was burning my eyes insanely, I had to leave (the area is fully enclosed so the chlorine has nowhere to go). Maybe I'm more sensitive to that than others.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was thinking of trying a Haven Spa suite on the Escape next year, but this gives me pause. Most indoor swimming pools are a no go for me, as the chlorine triggers my migraines, but I was only thinking of the heated loungers and saunas, etc.

I suppose I might go for it anyway, since the rooms seems like a good deal price wise for the space you get, and with a baby on board, I doubt I would have time use it very much anyway. Good way to try it out without losing a lot of money on something I can't use.

  8. I think I would find it curious is all steak was removed from the menu on a cruise, but yeah, I'd be "okay" with it.

Now, if my favorite steak house stopped serving steaks, or the neighborhood clam shack stopped serving clams (or boiled lobster), then I would take my business elsewhere. [emoji4]

  9. I'm currently pregnant. My sister and family have decided to sail on Disney in 2018.

By then, the baby will be old enough to sail no problem, but if I make a reservation now, I don't have a birth date yet.

Does anyone know if you can add a child to a reservation without a birthday, or change it later if my due date is inaccurate?

I'd hate to wait to reserve and then miss out on my family vacation, but if I make a reservation now for my husband and myself and we can't add the baby later, there'll be no family at home to babysit.

  10. On my last cruise, before they restricted bringing liquids on board, I brought a case of Canadian Coke on board. I would go to the bar and ask for two malibu's and 1) the bartenders never asked me for my husband's key card, and 2) when they sussed out why I was asking, they gave me doubles in tall glasses, so I could mixed them in my room.

  11. Plus 1 to @DCLCrazy. If you can swing the vacation time, take a one way cruise with a land trip before or after.

I did NLC from Vancouver to Seward last summer. After we got off the boat we took the train from Seward to Denali and then, after a couple days in the park, we headed by train again to Fairbanks.

While we were up there, we decided if we took the trip again with children, we'd rent a camper so we could take the trip at our own pace.

  12. The Butler's job overlaps the room steward? Really? This will be my first time with a Butler and I was under the impression the Butler did completely different things? Is her really cleaning my room, scrubbing the toilet and turning down my bed?

Well, I don't know about my toilet. But yes, your butler will be the one turning down your bed in the evenings and leaving your chocolate.
