  1. The BBQ spot is supposed to be really good. Los Lobos, the new Mexican spot on NCL was really good on the Dawn when they first rolled it out. I hope it is good on Bliss. Food Republic is great on the Escape and I hope it is as good on Bliss.

  2. My recent experience on Equinox for a one week cruise is that Celebrity is making a concerted effort to make the line hipper and appealing to a more youthful demographic. The music onboard, the shows and vibe are all meant to appeal to Gen X and younger. I found the shows to be pretty decent, the live music great and the piped in music all over the ship to be quite good. They have mimicked NCl's white party on deck and hired cruise directors and DJs to spice things up. Not sure how that will work on longer itineraries that skew older.

  3. Yes. I have booked an excursion, a dinner and a specialty dining package and applied OBC to it for an upcoming cruise. The web page where you book should show your OBC amount on it and when you check out it gives you the option of applying you onboard credit towards your purchase.

  4. NCL currently has a special that offers the choice of UBP, Speciality Dining, internet, or credit toward shore excursions if the cruise is booked by a certain date. On the surface, it sounds like a good deal, but being the skeptic that I am, I have to ask. What's the catch? Is this a common offer, or is this genuinely a one-time good deal?

They used to offer prepaid grats as one of the perks. They keep changing the perks and reducing their value.

  5. No one has mentioned the new social media package that NCL is starting to roll out. I think it's about $35 per week and allows access to several apps and sites like Twitter, Whats App and Instagram. Smart move on NCLs part to get people talking about their trip on social media. Free advertising.

  6. I would absolutely 100% recommend taking a ferry to the Virgin Gordon (#onyourown ). As I recall you can check out the time schedule and rates on line. When you leave the port and walk for about 5 minutes to the ferry. A beautiful walk thru the large rock formations to a beach for some sun and r&r

I feel bad for Virgin Gordon. Poor guy.

  7. Thanks everyone! I have decided - for now at least - to go ahead and book for my Spring Break 2018 in a Studio cabin. Denatravels made me a bit more comfortable at the potential crowd level since as a teacher my Spring Break is NYC's Spring Break.

I'm not 100% sure about it - size, Studio cabin, being gluten-free - but with a $50 refundable deposit it seemed silly to at least not hold it while I decide - locking in the rate and a cabin that doesn't connect but is not next to a door or mystery area.

    Any more advice is appreciated!

Look into a pass for Vibe, the capacity controlled 'beach club' on this class of ship. It will give you some space and quiet on sea days. Studio cabins are fine and the lounge for them is also pretty quiet at times.
