  1. 11020 is a Starboard side SC 2 BR Family Suite. This is a great room with almost 600 Sq Ft of room. You have 2 bathrooms, one regular BR, and a tiny second bedroom that would be appropriate for children. The master bath is very nice with a huge double vanity and mirror. It also has a whirlpool tub and a separate ultra luxurious shower. The shower and tub are on the ocean-side for spectacular views while you are soaking. You will like this room a lot.

Don't know about a boarding lounge in Civitavicchia but you will be in the first boarding group and, if you like, you will be escorted by your butler directly to Cagney's for a suite lunch.

  3. We are on the Star TA leaving Rome on November 5th to Miami. After the storms they replaced our St. Thomas port with Marseilles, France. It now appears that we will be adding Marseilles and also keeping the St. Thomas stop. Kudos to NCL for their commitment to helping rebuild the devastated Caribbean economies. These islands rely heavily on the tourist trade and they are suffering a great deal right now. Even though the port areas are heavily damaged and many of the attractions are not available, I urge everyone to get off the ship and spend more generously than usual.

  4. From USA Today on Sept 27th:

"Officials in the U.S. Virgin Islands are hoping to have hurricane-ravaged St. Thomas and St. Croix open to cruise ships within the next month. Even as work continues to restore basic infrastructure such as power in some areas hit hard by hurricanes Irma and Maria, Gov. Kenneth Mapp on Tuesday said late October was a realistic target for having cruise vessels return to the islands. Speaking at a meeting with members of the business community in St. Thomas, Mapp said cruise lines would like to return even earlier — as soon as Oct. 15."

  5. For some unknown reason NCL never releases showtimes prior to sailing. In the past, he Star showtimes have been 7 pm and 9 pm, nightly. The "Welcome Aboard" shows on the first night will give you a preview of the entertainment that will appear during the week.

  6. The DSC does not REPLACE tipping. Many here love to say it does however even according to NCLs own FAQ pages there are distinct entities. There is no requirement to tip at all and no suggested amounts. It boils down to giving tips to the person you want, at the time you want, in the amount you want. If someone gives you service that you personally feel is worthy of a tip by whatever means you measure that, then tip them. The only caveat I would add is that "not tipping because the DSC covers it" is weak at best. Akin to saying one will not tip a bar keep in a hotel at a Disney resort because the resort fees "cover it".

Actually, according to the FAQ pages the DSC does replace tipping or at least set a base level for tipping. It says:

    "How-to-Tip-on-a-Cruise?

Cruise lines, like Norwegian, include automatic tips either at time of booking or on your onboard account when disembarking for your stateroom steward. When ordering drinks at a bar or food at a specialty restaurant, gratuity will already be added to the bill. A few cruisers bring cash to tip for service that goes above and beyond high quality, but that is not expected by the staff."

  7. "I have searched and could not find a response for my question so here it goes."

Really...you searched? My total search time was less than one minute (Google for NCL UBP returned):

  8. We have had the UBP for each of our last 4 sailings. The procedure has become more relaxed with each voyage. At first they required everyone's sail pass and they had you sign a $-0- receipt for each drink. More recently they may require only one card for several guests as long as they know all guests being served have a UDP. No receipt is offered unless the drink exceeds the $15 maximum. Even with more expensive drinks, sometimes they will eschew the receipt and serve it as part of the UDP package. They appear to be trying to make it as simple and painless as possible. Kudos to NCL,

  9. I always bring a few hangers with me as well. They lay flat, dont take up much room and i can hang up my skirts.? There never seems tobe enough hangers!

Your room steward will bring you as many hangers as you want...for free.

  10. My wife and I along with 2 other couples will be on the Civitavecchia to Miami. We are all from Oregon and Idaho and we have been on several Trans-Atlantic repositioning cruises. The ship will probably be less than 70% full. Mostly older retired adults with a few younger couples. There might be a few children, but not many. We love the Trans-Atlantic cruise because they tend to be a little more laid back. With fewer passengers you tend to meet the same folks multiple times and you will probably be on a first name basis with some of the crew members (bartenders anyway) as well.

  11. "There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so muchworth doing as simply messing about in boats. In or out of 'em, it doesn'tmatter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you getaway, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whetheryou reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you'realways busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done itthere's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'dmuch better not."

    - Spoken by Ratty to Mole in Wind in the Willows by KennethGrahame (1859-1932).

  12. My wife and I have dined many times at Cagney's, Le Bistro, and La Cucina. Le Bistro would be our first choice followed by Cagney's. That having been said, it is unlikely that they will accommodate 50 to 60 people without special arrangements. Even the MDR would be hard pressed to seat a group that size. If you call them they may reserve one of these venues for your party or find you a meeting area that can be set up to cater just your group.

  13. These is no lobster what so ever served on Norwegian not even in specialty restaurants. It changed a year ago.

Sorry to disagree but less than a year ago one couple in our group had lobster in Cagney's. There was also a lobster dish in La Cochina that none of us ordered.
