  1. Ill be going to Grand Turk on my cruise on the Carribean Princess, July 10,2008.

This sounds like the perfect place for me to go to. My son (15) & I love to snorkel. We have a short port day, so this sounds perfect. Jump in a taxi, hit the beach and snorkel. We always bring our own snorkel gear.

    Thanks for the info!

  2. Im only off the Valor 3 weeks ago and honestly, I cannot remember hearing loud music anywhere other than at the pool area. The music that was played elsewhere was very low and unobtrusive. I do not remember any music in the elevators. When I had enough of the Lido Deck band, I just moved to a quieter area. Its never been a problem

I am a Musician and let me tell you, thats the first thing I hone in on. The band on the Valor was turned up a bit louder than previous cruises Ive taken, but no one seemed to mind, including myself. The lido deck was packed. Heck, its a fun ship and advertised as that.

I think if people are seeking a quiet and reserved ship, they should try Cunard or other lines that are not advertised as "FUN".

  3. This might be hard to believe, but I have seen more jellies in the north atlantic, primarily the beaches at Rockaway & Belle Harbor. There have been times when you cant even go in at all due to the tremendous amounts of Lion Mane Jellies whose tentacles extend about 10 ft & moon jellies. Even when they are gone, their severed tentacles are still in the water and can still sting. The lifeguards usually have stuff for the stings. Ive also experienced extreme itching. That could be from another entity? The gulf stream is nearby and attributes alot to this.

In all my 40 years of snorkeling the carribean, Ive seen jellies, but have been fortunate enough to never get stung. I seem to be able to swim away from them. This is not the case where I live NYC. It seems like the entire ocean is filled with the jellies and makes it impossible to go in the water at all. The Carribean is wonderful! Enjoy!
