  1. I have cruised out of Galveston twice. Both times there was only one ship at the terminal (Triumph in 2012, Magic last year). Had absolutely zero traffic issues arriving at the parking garage about 12:00pm and less then 20 minutes to process through check-in and security (I think there was one car ahead of me at the traffic light in front of the terminal as I was waiting to turn right on 25th street, and maybe 6 groups ahead of us the the queue). This year I see both the Magic and NOS will be in the port.

Any traffic issues? Would it make sense to arrive a couple hours later...say 2pm? I really don't care if I miss lunch that first day.

And one more question. Looking at the main terminal right across from the traffic light...where will the NOS be docked? Is it to the left of the Magic as you are looking at the Magic?

    Thanks.

  2. You are mixing up promotions.

The kids cruise free when you pay FULL price for the adults.

Obviously the $949 you are throwing around was some other promotion price, not FULL price.

I know this as I called both RCCL and CCL to get the details of the kids sail free promotion from both of them.

I ended up reserving two rooms with RCCL. I was charged the absolute FULL price for one adult in both an interior room and a balcony room. This was a higher rate than other promotions would charge for just a single. Then in addition, they charged me the taxes/fees for one additional person in each room.

Notice that I am stressing FULL price above.

  3. ...what can I expect, process/rule wise, to be different from Carnival?

Traveling with my wife and two teenage boys.

From reading these RCCL posts, is it true that:

    1. You have to make a reservation to see a show? Is that all shows?

    2. You have to wait to be seated at the buffet?

    3. You need a ticket to get off the ship in the various ports?

    4. You cannot wear a casual pair of shorts, golf shirt and sandals in the MDR on non-formal nights?

    5. Food is not available 24 hours a day?

  4. No. I can find better prices at home and if there is a problem, I can easily return to the store.

Seriously, how many problems are you going to have with jewelry that is not self-inflicted? I am not saying it won't happen, but the chances have to be about as low as the ship catching on fire...ummm...hmmm...bad analogy.

  5. I honestly have no need for internet while I am on a vacation. Unless I have children at home (and I don't) or a sick family member, There is no need for me to connect with facebook, email, ect. I am on a vacation. I will catch up with all that when I get home.

I am with you on this. I get all our affairs in order before we leave home (pay bills, etc) and enjoy being "disconnected" when taking a vacation.
