  1. We recently booked an acessable cabin on line and did not have to fill in any forms.

Sure you did... when booking one of these cabins, a pop up that says "IMPORTANT NOTICE: ATTESTATION OF NEED FOR ACCESSIBLE CABIN" appears and you must click that you accept those terms. If they find that folks have lied and don't need the cabin, they'll either move them or possibly deny them boarding.

  2. Can anyone tell me where to find the restrictions for bringing water and soda on board? How much is allowed etc.....

    Thanks

    :)

As far as I know, there are no restrictions to bringing on water and soda, although they'd probably frown on a pallets worth... ;)

  3. Thanks for the quick replies. The travel agent handling the group made it sound like it was very difficult to get "approved" to book one of these cabins and I couldn't find anything on the Princess website that described what requirements there will be. I thought they might require something from a doctor stating that he was confined to a wheelchair. Glad to hear that he will probably qualify!

You'll have to verbally "attest" that you need the cabin.

From what I have read, only 2 people are allowed in a handicapped accessible cabin. You may want to call Princess to check on this.

No, there are some quad accessible cabins. I sailed in a balcony one on Crown Princess a few years back. It was on Caribe deck... gigantic balcony.

  4. Thanks for posting the link.

I just checked the schedule and see no upcoming dry docks for the Caribbean.

I have two cruises scheduled for Feb and March 2016, and am mildly concerned when I see all the other threads about how the ship is "dirty" or loooking really old.

Am I missing something in the next years schedule, or should I wonder if it will only get worse?

    thanks.

    Lil

She had her last drydock in May of 2014. So, most likely, she'll have one sometime in 2016.

  5. Yep, as the other two posters mentioned, since you used a TA, Princess won't talk to you concerning anything that has to do with money on the original booking. That being said, I do think a callback would have been nice to tell you that...

  6. Trying to figure out if we qualify for a wheelchair cabin on Princess. My niece is getting married on the Crown in Alaska next June and her 95 year old grandfather would like to attend. My husband and I would be sharing the cabin with him to care for him. He doesn't use a wheelchair at home but he never has to walk very far and he always uses a walker. He also needs help to shower and use the bathroom. Does anybody know if this qualifies? Thanks in advance for your help!

We were on Crown Princess last December with my 93-year old mother and she had an inside accessible cabin. She mostly gets around with a cane, but used a walker on the ship when we were under way to steady herself. There appeared to be no problem when we booked the cabin nor onboard. She certainly appreciated the bathroom. I don't think they will quibble about someone of such an advanced age.

  7. The three girls have a big following down here. They also do a lot of bigger journeys from Australia that sell very well. I guess they catering to the local market. I've cruised on the Dawn four times. There is nothing wrong with these ships.

I've sailed on Dawn Princess and Sea Princess. They were both lovely ships. :)

  8. During last Chef's Table, I had a chance to ask chef about some of inner workings of food service.

Per company and USDA rules, they are not allowed to take any food from non-US port. So entire week you are eating stuff that was loaded at beginning of the cruise. Why do you think crab shack can be reduced price towards end of the cruise?

So, sushi you are going to enjoy will be a slab of fish frozen for a week. Not saying it's horrible or anything, but do not expect amazing experience.

So where do the ships that homeport out of the US get their food?

  9. We recently had sushi at Vines on the Crown. Although the fish on the nigiri pieces was good, the rice was not. Come to think of it, I have never had good sushi on any of the three lines I've sailed. No, I don't think sushi is a priority offering for cruise ships and really excellent sushi would be cost prohibitive if it were offered freely. If there were a specialty restaurant for sushi, that might be different. As a matter of fact, I believe the Diamond now has a sushi specialty restaurant.

Yes... Sun Princess and Diamond Princess have the Kai Sushi restaurant.

  10. Wow. Interesting information and I understand the OP's consternation about being misled. I was considering purchasing the Soda "Plus" package for my 14-day med cruise on the Emerald next week, mostly so I could get in on the milkshakes and hot chocolates. If those aren't available I may as well pick up a liter of Diet Coke before I board in Barcelona and be done with it.

Proactively going forward however, for those of you who do feel the milkshake info is "common knowledge," would you be able to post the shorter list of which Princess ships DO have the milkshakes or which DON'T? That would be helpful to a lot of people I'm sure. If I don't see it I suppose I can simply ask onboard the Emerald before I purchase it whether or not they have them and if they are included w/out strings attached.

Shakes are available on Emerald Princess...

  11. Does anyone have pictures of pier 46?

A current photo would show you a big parking lot. They put up a big temporary tent to serve as a terminal when they use this pier.

    Pretty much...

  12. The link the OP provided is very similar to the now disappeared one.

Now my only problem .... and it truly is MY problem due to being a tad OCD .... is that the displayed images are not in alphabetical order like they were on the "princess only dot com" one! That's pathetic, I know!! LOL

You can satisfy your OCD by knowing that the ships on the Princess link are grouped by class of ship... :p:)

  13. No. I have looked at the soda packages thoroughly. I had wanted to purchase a package but the soda availability on princess leaves a lot to be desired. Nothing but come and diet coke. A big negative that there isn't anything like dr pepper or root beer. A major let down.

I've seen root beer in cans...

  14. We are booked on a cruise leaving next Tuesday from Copenhagen. We just received this offer from Princess and I'm trying to figure it out.

    And receive:

    * 100% cruise fare refund (as refundable onboard credit)

    * Next Meta Upgrade (Inside to Balcony OR Balcony to Mini-suite)

    * Air change fees up to $300.00 per person

    * Princess air program will be protected

Does this mean our cruise would be free?

    Yes.

  15. That was the second reason given. The first one because port congestion.

pRincess is not going tell us the real reason. We are elite answer very disappoint on how this is being handled. Still have not received a email about the change. Think how other passengers are going to react when they get aboard and find their cruise change this much. I think I will go have a seat in front of crustomer service the first day on the should very interesting.

Did you book through a TA? If so, they're the ones who will probably get the email and will have to forward it to you.

  16. Two questions:

    1. Are there screens or screen doors on the (presumably) sliding glass door of the balcony rooms on the Emerald? I like fresh air during the night.

    2. If "no" to the above, would it be safe to crack the sliding door an inch or two, or is there some chance of human or flying intruders* possibly gaining access to our room?

*If you're a human AND you can fly -- YIKES! -- you won't be on MY cruise, will you...? :p

    No screen doors.

Most times, if you have your balcony door open and open the cabin door, you'll create a major wind tunnel effect. Also, it is recommended that the balcony door not be left open at night because it can adversely affect the air conditioning of the cabins around you.
