  1. Dave, just wondering if you had a room that was the mirror image meaning that the right side in our suite was on the hinge side. If your hinge was on the left side of the TV I can see where it would be more accessible. Don't think I did a good job of explaining this !

  2. Hi all. We were just on the Explorer in a F2 cabin and I looked at connecting a any device through a HDMI input.

1- I am sure that there are inputs but without removing the TV from the mounting bracket you can't access the connector of the TV.

2- The menu on the Regent information system will let you switch between 3 inputs but like I said at least in our cabin you can't get to them.

  3. Thanks for all of the well wishes. Some of the posts really made me laugh!

Sitting in the United Lounge in Houston. We haven't flown United for years and have heard negative things about them. I must say that their lounge is dramatically better than American. Eating a nice salad and a soft drink (savings the alcohol for later). Hoping that our hotel (that also has poor reviews) will be as satisfying as United has been (although their onboard food would not meet the requirements of any of our kitties).

Don't think that I mentioned that we received a last minute up-sell offer (this week). That will make the 25 nights (and the celebration of becoming Titanium) even better.

If I ever get the approximately 180 pounds of luggage unpacked once we get onboard, I'll post from the ship. I have both my laptop and iPad so all I need is some decent connectivity.

My DH is telling me that my break is over. Time to get ready for the next flight.

180 Pounds ! How many months will you be gone ?

  4. Just to add that on the Mariner the "shaver" outlet is " ON " only when the main lights in the bath are on ! I use a 6' extinction cord to plug into the outlet on the vanity each night and the other end loops over the rail on the glass shelf, a pain but it works. A battery unit of coarse would not have this problem.

  5. Just a side note ; it is bothersome to me that 1- most of Regents passengers are from the US yet most of the outlets are European ? 2- they place the 2 US outlets next to each other making them in most cases usable for only one connection. example- US-US-Euro. I would suggest -US Euro. US. But hay it's just me !

Note: these are the only US outlets in a standard suite except the Shaver in the bathroom.

  6. These are great ideas. I never seen a small light weight power strip. I have two in my home and both are big and heavy.

Where do you plug in the nightlight. On most ships I see a plug in bathroom that says for shaver only.

    Thanks

The outlet that is labeled for "shavers" in a low current outlet. That said an LED night light uses less current that a shaver. I have one that will work on 220 or 120 volts.

  7. Captainjohn.

Absolutely not, there is no need even for a wifi connection. You are thinking of such as Samsungs proprietary system for mirroring the screen and which includes remote function.

Look at apps such as universal remote control from powerir.net.

Its free, and will operate hundreds of different tvs as well as audio, air con, projectors recorders etc.

It is android only and requures your phone or tablet to have an ir port, which many do.

OK-I was cumming from the Apple world and didn't think there was anything else:) Am sure you are right about android but as you say you need an IR transmitter.

  8. Two thoughts;

1-The tv's in the new renovated suits and the ones on the Explorer have HDMI inputs just like yours at home. The problem is how to select them. So your thought of using the manufactures remote is one that could work. Just need to find out the brand, sorry I don't remember. Or you could bring a cheep universal remote and pray. I am sure someone on board could look at the brand and model # of the TV for you.

2- If I remember correctly the built in system has a place to select a DVD player which actually does NOT exist but the system provides for one. So you could trying to select " DVD " with the Regent remote and then try to find which HDMI input is active. OH don't forget to pray.

Now that I have completely confused myself I will hope you find a way because I would like to do the same thing.

  9. Dear Guest and Valued Travel Partner,

Please allow us to inform you of an important itinerary adjustment to Seven Seas Explorer’s 14-night, Southern Caribbean Charm voyage, sailing roundtrip from Miami on December 20, 2017.

Thankfully, many islands were spared the full force of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. However, we must replace our calls to Roseau, Dominica and Philipsburg, St. Maarten with Fort De France, Martinique and St. John’s, Antigua. 10. While I don't know how it works either, you really cannot do streaming on any Regent ship. If I'm lucky, I can watch a short utube video. G

When we are on vacation, with the exception of email and CC, we take the opportunity to disconnect from the world. OTOH, watching a mindless movie that we've never heard of can be fun. Unless there is an emergency, we don't watch news or turn on stations that Regent subscribes to.

    TC thought you were a " T " now ! :)
