"upper" beds in interior cabins?

On the Carnival website, they show pictures of interior cabins with two beds and what looks like a small sofa, but on the floorplan the legend shows two 'dots' which indicate "upper beds". Which is it? (We'll be on the Valor)

We have three people, all adults. I was originally told we would get a room with a convertible sofa. Information is conflicting.

Anyone had these interior rooms? Are the overhead bunks comfortable for adults?

Thanks in advance.

Hi we are sailing on the Liberty in a 1-a cabin our cabin is on the 8th floor with 1 bed on the floor and a bunk above. Some cabins have twins and a sofa. I could not find a picture of the Liberty room but found one for the Valor I believe. www.curiseshipcecksplans.com was recommend in another post maybe it will help. Good luck.

On the Valor, I see only uppers, no sofas, in the interior rooms, and the 'with sofa' triples are all in the outside rooms.

Out of curiosity, which picture on the website are you looking at? Is it specific for the Valor (or a Conquest class ship) or could it be for another class? I looked quickly at an interior stateroom picture for each class and did not see one with a sofa pictured.

If someone told you that you could get a sofa third bed in an interior room on the Valor, I think that is a mistake. But, the uppers are quite comfy, sleep a 6 ft teen quite well, and the ladder is not difficult to navigate.

Thanks for the responses. I'm a first time cruiser, so this whole experience is kinda daunting.

The first time I called Carnival I didn't specify where we wanted a cabin. The agent never explained interior cabins and upper beds, she just suggested the sofa for the third person.

We originally purchased a 'guarantee' cabin, but after much research I decided that I didn't want to take a chance on being in the bow or stern, or under the casino, etc. So we chose an interior cabin midship on the lowest deck (better for seasickness)

Then I got to looking at the other cabins, and the window, and the sofa...and finally decided that for 7 days, I would much rather be in an OV cabin with the sofa. So we picked one, midship again, and still on the lowest level.

I'm driving the travel agent (my sis-in-law) crazy.

Yes, it can be confusing, especially with that picture, which IS a chair, but the fish-eye angle makes it confusing and hard to tell. FYI, most pictures on cruiseline sites don't show the 3rd/4th person set-up/layout, so it can be difficult to visualize, especially since not all rooms of any one type can even hold a 3rd or 4th person (you have to read the deck plan symbols and legend for those details).

I do think you will be happier in the outside, with sofa, for three adults.

Inside cabins do not have a sofa. They do have the chair that sits at the vanity.

4 people in an inside cabin- best thing you will pack is an over the door shoe holder to keep your bathroom stuff and "stuff" from accumulating on the little space available in the cabin.

most inner cabins do not have a sofa. they have a chair by the desk/vanity.

if you click below my signature and view my pictures you will see a picture of an inside cabin on the majesty. just above both beds there is a pullman style bed. very very very crowded in the cabin for 4 people.

disagree wtih over the door holder thing. We had 4 (actually 5 in reality; 4 female, 1 male) in our cabin on the Miracle. We had an inside cabin. There was plenty of space in the bathroom on shelves attached to the mirror to store deodarant, contact stuff, etc. No problems at all wtih storage throughout the cabin. suitcases all fit under bed and in closets. I was going to bring one and then a friend told me it really is not necessary on the newer Carnival ships; can't speak for other lines or older ships.

How were you able to get 5 people in your cabin oon the Miracle?

Were these adults or children too?
