Smbruner Posted October 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Our cruise begins in Southampton, UK and I'm wondering if we fly into Southampton or if we fly into Heathrow? It also includes one night accommodation - would that be in Southampton or London? Thanks for any information on this.
Travelcat2 Posted October 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2017 They fly you into Heathrow. The one time we flew into Heathrow for a departure in Southampton, they put their guests up in London. While the airport will not change, the hotel could be elsewhere. If your cruise isn't too far in advance, you can likely learn which hotel you will "likely" be assigned by contacting your TA. FloridaGirl1962 Posted October 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2017 Travelcat2 is correct. We sailed from Southampton this summer. We stayed at the Marriott Grosvenor House. Very nice hotel and easy to get around London. We were booked with a D-concierge level, so we had transportation from Heathrow to the hotel provided. Then the next day Regent provided the transportation from London to Southampton. It is a good 2-3 hour drive, depending on traffic. There was a bad accident, so we were slowed down getting to Southampton. We still arrived in plenty of time to enjoy lunch on the Explorer before getting into our suite. Happy Travels!! johncb7 Posted October 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2017 The length of the road trip from London to Southampton can vary considerably with heavy traffic. If given the option I would prefer to have the pre deparure night in Southampton which is a pleasant city to visit. If you are in central London and arranging the trip to Southampton yourself, there is an excellent rail service from London Waterloo to Southampton , the terminals in Southampton being a short taxi ride from the rail station. Only problem with the train is that there has been irregular strikes by Southern Rail over the last 18 months e.g today and Thursday this week! SGolffan Posted October 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2017 We sailed from Southampton this summer as well and had a direct flight into Heathrow. We opt to make our own reservations and stayed in Southampton the night prior. We also booked our own driver which was awesome! No bus and reasonably priced. We have been to London multiply times, thus we decided to head directly to port. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Southern rail don't run the line to Southampton, its South Western Railway (the old South West Trains) so no strikes currently
