Formal night

Totally confused. On Celebrity website SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS do NOT require formal attire on formal nights. However, checking with Celebrity customer service formal attire IS mandatory in specialty restaurants on formal nights. Does anyone know definitive answer?

From the website:

The dress code in Celebrity's specialty dining restaurants, including Blu for AquaClass® guests, is "Smart Casual and Above" for every night of the cruise, regardless of the evening dress code in the main restaurant.

We were just on Reflection and dined in Tuscan Grille on formal night and were wearing nice, but casual, clothes. Others in different specialty restaurants found the same thing. I've heard here and there about people being required to dress formally in other restaurants on formal night, but I've never met anyone who has personally experienced this. I'm chalking it up to some miscommunication and/or urban legend.

The one thing that you will find when dealing with Celebrity cruises is as good as their product is on board ships, their customer service on the phone is very often wrong. In this case they are dead wrong. Post #2 had the correct entry from Celebrity's web site. You will get more accurate answers on this board then from Celebrity's customer service on the phone.

And in addition...here's further confirmation/clarification from Celebrity as they responded here on Cruise Critic just 2 weeks ago :

Guest Dress Code for Specialty Restaurants

Celebrity Guests,

Our dress code for specialty restaurants remains smart casual for every night of the cruise, regardless of the evening dress code in the Main Dining Room. Thanks to all who have participated and this discourse to make us aware of any inconsistencies. Please keep us updated on the issue.

Thanks

Celebrity Cruises Manager (E.S.P)

Relax and Enjoy !

Woody
