June 17... marseille/luberon: Lavender before full bloom?

apparently - our day in Marseille/Provence is before the lavender full bloom.

If i still go to Luberon/lavender fields - what will I see? Is it still worth it?

Lots of low, green bushes. The same landscapes.

The Luberon is beautiful in any season. Visit a few of the tiny villages; Bonnieux, Gordes, Lacoste,Roussillion, many small old churches, monastery, wineries.

I'm trying to figure out if i really have to go that far to visit old churches, monastery, wineries, etc.. I was really only going to see the Lavender.

We were also considering Les Baux-de-Provence, Aix en Provence, St. Remy and Arles.

Aix is like a tiny Paris feel, great bakeries, but can get crowded if there are lots of cruiseships in port. St Remy is great if you are a Van Gogh fan. Arles if you are an "old stone and ruins" kind of person.

I still love the villages of the Luberon, no crowds and relaxing. A much slower vibe.
