ChiSquare8 Posted May 15, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2005 Hi everyone: I am new to this board and wanted to get opinions about the 37 day trip from Thailand to Athens trip. I do not know if will be offered in March of 2006 but I was considering the itinerary. Here is the problem, I am 36 year old single female who is "well" travelled and in cruising has sailed mostly on Celebrity and Windjammer. I love the Windjammer experience but their intineraries are mostly in the Caribbean. Due to the length of the Clipper trip, it will be difficult to find a companion! Have you seen single people (traveling alone) on many of your Star Clipper trips? I have taken 1 out of 20 cruises solo and it was a "nice" experience for time alone. I am "usually" a people person and love the smaller sailing ship lifestyle. What is the average age of passengers. I am not looking for a party ship! Feedback much appreciated! pralientje Posted May 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2005 Melissa, Yes, I have seen many single travellers on board the Star Clippers ships. I myself will be going on the Transatlantic coming October/November. This time on my own. My husband cannot find the time this year. Last year we did it together and there were a lot of singles. It should be no problem since they have an open dinner seating. There are tables for eight or for six. No reservations allowed. Just join the people already there or ask the Maitre D. The Star Clipper ships are sure no party ships, entertainment is usually done by the crew and a musician is on board. No casino's, no theatre, no shows, just the outdoor bar or the piano bar. Very pleasant. Ages: early forty up to in their eighties. We have done the crossing from Athens to Phuket in 2002. The captain gave dancing lessons during that crossing. If you have any more questions, please ask. Pralientje
