patrinka Posted June 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2018 We are arriving in Bangkok and need transfers to our hotel in the city. Is a taxi the best method and what does one cost approximately? Do we need THB to pay for the taxi?
AuntiePen Posted June 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2018 As you exit from the custom look for meter taxi sign. You can go right or left then you need to go one floor down using the escalator. Please ignore people who try to get you to go with them. Once you are down one floor , look for the meter taxi sign. There should be a line that people are waiting to get their Que to get tickets. There will be a sign said small or large taxi line. They are the same price so go the one with large or big taxi. There will be a machine that you are going to press for ticket that shows taxi stand number which is just in front of you. There are number displayed clearly. Walk to find your taxi. Then you will tell them which hotel. There is a bht 50 (maybe a bit more now) fee and you will pay according to the meter prices plus one or two tolls (from 25- 75 bht for each toll). Total should be around 400-500 bht. You pay directly to the driver and you need thai bath. You can get that baht once you just walk out from custom door. There are banks, atm, tourist information. I hope this helps.
patrinka Posted June 2, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted June 2, 2018 Thank you. How about returning to the airport from the city hotel? Is it easy to get a taxi from the hotel and the cost approximately the same?
iancal Posted June 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2018 Yes. You will need Thai bhat. There are lots of ATMs after customs. We always do the above. Take a cab. The cost is typically 300-500 Bhat as others have said depending on where you are going. About the same price coming back. We usually arrive and leave late at night so traffic is never an issue.
