Transatlantic Tom Posted July 25, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2004 Does anyone have any information regarding the QE2 Canada/US/Transatlantic EB voyage listed on the Cunard website for late August/early September 2005 ??? Unless I missed it, I DON'T see this voyage listed in the recently released Cunard 2005 brochure. Does anyone know what's going on ??? tjc232000 Posted July 26, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2004 It's certainly listed in the UK 2005 brochure as "Canadian Crossing" Sail Southampton 30/8/05 visiting St John's Newfoundland, Sydney, Nova Scotia, Quebec City, Halifax,Nova Scotia, Boston, Newport Rhode Island and New York returning to Southampton 19/9/05. Sailaway Fare from £2119 Hope that helps. Regards, Derek
Transatlantic Tom Posted July 26, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted July 26, 2004 Thank you, Derek !!! I'll have to sit down with the North American version of the 2005 Brochure and go over it again, but I'd swear that I could NOT find any reference to this trip anywhere...including in the chronological calendar in the front section of the brochure...but I'll double check. If there is indeed NO reference to the "Canadian Crossing" in our version, does that mean that the marketing people don't think that any Canadians and/or Americans would be interested ??? I, for one, think it sounds like a fabulous sailing: a journey to Canada, U.S.A. AND a SUMMERTIME QE2 transatlantic crossing !!!! Tom
tjc232000 Posted July 27, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Tom, I would have thought Cunard would be pleased to receive custom from anywhere. If you can't find detail in the brochure I'm sure a phone call to their customer services would generate some action. As an aside my wife and I did this trip last year on Oriana a P&O ship. It was an absolutely memorable holiday. We'll never forget sailing into New York harbour and then leaving down the Hudson in the dark, the City lights everywhere absolutely magnificent. Got it all on video as a reminder.Another memorable port was Quebec City. I was just looking on the P&O on-line booking system and the September 2005 trip on Oriana is almost fully booked already. mtbny7 Posted July 27, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2004 I think the trip is being marketed to European passengers; but I'm sure anyone can book it. You'll just have to pay your own r/t airfare from USA to UK. Michael New York
Vic The Parrot Posted August 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2004 Hey Tom I've been thinking about doing that crossing/Canada cruise. The fare made me jump out of my shoes, I have to say! Something to think about, I guess. :-)
Transatlantic Tom Posted August 6, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted August 6, 2004 Vic: Yes, doesn't it sound like a great trip ???? I've always wanted to do a QE2 Canada/New England trip, and...my heavens...combine that with a NY-Southampton crossing ! WOW !! It sounds wonderful. Transatlantic Tom Posted August 10, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Vic: At this point I don't know if the Canadian/Transatlantic trip is possible...unfortunately for me (and Mrs Transatlantic Tom !!) 20 days is a little more time than we might be able to manage to get away BUT this voyage is one year away, and you never know......Actually, we're seriously thinking of trying to make the QE2's westbound transatlantic crossing in December. Vic The Parrot Posted August 10, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Hey Tom There's a slight chance I might be on the Dec WB crossing this year. I'll keep you informed. :-D
cruise44 Posted August 12, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 12, 2004 In a previos post I mentioned that the QE2 should be passing the QM2 after it leaves New York on its way back to Southampton. That will be an extra bonus for the trip!
Vic The Parrot Posted August 12, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 12, 2004 Hmmmmmmmm cruise44, I should call my TA then. And soon! :-D
Transatlantic Tom Posted August 13, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted August 13, 2004 I was on the QE2 WB April 19-25, but couldn't make it for the return Tandem Crossing, so the prospect of seeing QM2, at sea from QE2 after departing NY for Southampton, adds to the allure of this trip !!! Thanks for the info !!!!
Gary B Posted August 31, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 31, 2004 Can I double check my understanding of the last few posts. Is the QM2 passing QE2 on the december crossing this year or the earlier posting about the Canadian Crossing in August next year? Hoping it is the 15 December crossing, as I am on that one and that would indeed be an extra treat! Gary
cruise44 Posted August 31, 2004 #15 Share Posted August 31, 2004 I was referring to the Canadian crossing that the QE2 and QM2 should pass after the QE2 leaves New York.
