Melkaista Posted February 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2008 Hi! Should I be concerned about our cabin on the Dawn being directly below the showroom stage? We are a family with 2 small children and have asked for an upgrade but not gotten one - cruise leaves in 10 days! Cabin E111 - all advice appreciated!! Last cruise we went on Star and were directly below the shuttlecock game deck and it drove me crazy during afternoon naps! (-; Thank-you! Megagirl Posted February 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2008 Hi Mel We had a cabin on Emerald Deck which was directly under the shuffleboard and every afternoon when we were having a nanna nap they were playing. It took us a while to figure out what the noise was though. I think you should be ok where you are, cause it would be very well sound-proofed, but I'm only guessing. Have a great cruise. karmac Posted February 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2008 Don't forget too that the shows are over by about 9:45. After that, only a movie and you won't hear that. Karen
Melkaista Posted February 26, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted February 26, 2008 Thank's! I had thought of tap dancing (cringe!):o The shows may finnish by 9.45 but my 4 & 5 year olds don't stay up that late! I'm hoping it will be well soundproofed but was thinking maybe someone would have stayed under the showlounge on the dawn or another ship. Maybe put the kids to bed inbetween shows?! dea71 Posted February 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 29, 2008 Hi Mel Have never stayed under showlounge - but definatley understand your concern about trying to get little ones to bed. We are above the showlounge on the same cruise! I think the whole confined space with 2 small people is going to make bedtime a challenge anyway - and with our little man it is not just once as he wakes up a couple of times a night (he is only 20 months and such a busy little monkey)!! Hopefully all the activity at Turtle Cove will wear the older ones out and they will just curl up and start snoring :p Hope it is all peace & quiet for you - if not there's always ear plugs I guess!! Karen You'd hope so wouldnt you... but we were directly under the Atlantis showlounge on the sun and I'll tell you what.. 1. Yes you do hear the shows so u have the privelage (or not) of hearing every show twice 2. They do end early but... either the current dancers or the change-over dancers have practice at about 4am and yes there is tap and yes you definately hear that  hopefully you wont have a changeover crew... we also heard all the shifting of equipment backstage unfortunately we were also near the anchor so on port days you'd think the ship was running aground an English beach with the noise that thing made
Melkaista Posted February 29, 2008 Author #9 Share Posted February 29, 2008 Thank-you Jaky! I appreciate your honesty, at least i'll be prepared for what to expect (earplugs, earplugs, earplugs!!!):D Despite this, I am still looking forward to a wonderful, relaxing cruise with my family in.........6 days!!!!!:D Roll on Friday! I guess they have to do it sometime. While we were on our Dawn cruise I saw the dancers practicing out on the stage between the pools at about 8 one morning. Cabin E111 - all advice appreciated!! (-; Thank-you! Mel Hi I would also hear from anybody that has been towards the front of the ship on Emerald deck on PD. We've just been upgraded from Cat O on Plaza deck to Category M on Emerald and we were allocated cabins E108 & E112 today in cruise personaliser. Looking at the deck plans, it looks like our cabins E108 & E112 are further forward rather than being situated directly under the showlounge stage and seating area (located more towards the back section of the stage) however any info on the location of these cabins in regard to noise etc from above would be great. (We know that there will be a bit more movement being situated towards the front)
NoRelationToNed Posted August 26, 2008 #13 Share Posted August 26, 2008 We spoke to some fellow passengers who had a cabin well forward under the show lounge. They said they could hear the dancers above them but it didn't worry them as much as the sound of the bow crashing into the 7 meter swell onone of the nights when we ran into a 20 knot SW change on the way back to Sydney. Pitching is more pronounced the further forward you get so be aware of that if it's going to be an issue should you be unlucky weather-wise. xxmatthewxx Posted August 26, 2008 #14 Share Posted August 26, 2008 I have been in E114 twice and never noticed anything though I can't say I have been in the room when a major show is going on. Apparently you feel more movement at the front as well but I really don't notice it as being any different to else where on the boat. Every-time I book on Dawn I always go for the Emerald forward part of the ship cause I love it's location. It is near everything (Dome, show lounge, casino, shops, purser) then it also doesn't have a constant flow of traffic going past the cabin doors all the time cause it's kind of separated from the long corridors. kazda Posted August 26, 2008 #15 Share Posted August 26, 2008 I have been in E114 twice and never noticed anything though I can't say I have been in the room when a major show is going on. thanks Matt, good to know. Our last cruise we were on Baja midship inside, so none of the above applied to our cabin location. Great to hear that you specifically request the front of emerald deck for its great location. Thanks for the info.

kazda Posted August 27, 2008 #19 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Kazda i'm on baja midship in an inside in december, anything i should or shoudn't be aware of? Baja midship was great. We were in B224. We loved that you only had to go up two flights of stairs and your at the pool area etc. We never used the lifts at all as Baja deck was close to everything we needed and as we only ate at the Cafe De sol apart from 1 formal night we hardly ventured below Promanade deck. The laundry is also on Baja deck which is very handy. I'm sure you'll be pleased with Baja deck.
Gratz Posted August 27, 2008 #20 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Oh great thanks Kazda, we are in B229.....i think someone in my family might be in B224.....we have 4 cabins between all of us. up until a few days ago i kept thinking we had three cabins.....and then the penny dropped we actually have
OATLEYGAL Posted August 27, 2008 #21 Share Posted August 27, 2008 We are also in cabin E111 for our cruise in November (unless the upgrade fairy pays us a visit). I want to hear all about it when you return. My concern is not about noise (my kids are older), but feeling the movement more as my kids & myself suffer from motion sickness. We were midship on the Sun last year & only felt the rocking once coming back to Sydney. You'll probably find that the littlies will be so worn out that they'll sleep like logs (fingers crossed for you). Have a great cruise !!!:)

I'm presuming you orginally booked for M category (emerald deck) so you could get lucky with an upgrade as we were moved there from Plaza deck under a price guarantee rate.
