Pier 30-- A Different Seattle Transportation

We're taking a four day Pacific Coast cruise from Vancover to Los Angeles with a stop in Seattle. We live in the area and are familar with Seattle north of the old Kingdome, but anything further south is a mystery. The Thomas guide seems to indicate that Pier 30 is located in an industrial setting and the Metro site indicates that the nearest bus stop is one-half mile away. Since we're planning on doing touristy thing, the Pike Place Market and the observation floor on the Columbia-Bank America Building, or whatever it's called now, and then having lunch with our daughter, who works in one of the high-rises in downtown Seattle, I guess taxis are the only option to get downtown. So my question, see there is a question here, is are taxis readily avbailable at Pier 30 and what's the approximate cost to downtown?

Thanks in advance. Also if this post appears twice it's because Cruise Critic froze up the first time I tried.
