Things to do near port

Hubby and I are going on our first cruise in Oct. It's his first time overseas and my first time in the Caribbean so these ports are all new to us. We have an excursion set up for the morning in Philipsburg, but it will be done by noon and the ship doesn't leave until 5pm. We plan to be onboard by 3. Does anyone have recommendations on things to do/see or restaurants to have lunch that are close to the port so we can kill some time before it's time to get back on the ship? We'd prefer to walk (if it's safe), but don't mind a short cab ride either. We want to stay close so we're not in a rush, but would love to do a little more exploring before we have to leave. Thanks!

There are lots of shops / restaurants to explore in Phillipsburg. There are even a couple of casinos. There are also chair / umbrella rentals along Great Bay beach. Many tours will drop you off in town when they return. It’s an easy walk back to the ship or you can catch a water taxi or cab back.

If you are even minor Star Wars fans, be sure to visit the Yoda Guy Movie exhibit in Philipsburg. It is one-of-a-kind and very enjoyable. The owner and his wife are usually there and they have a whole bunch of things from movies that you will definitely recognize - with Star Wars being the biggest one.
