mary_228 Posted October 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2017 I am on the planning committee for a group intent upon a Danube river cruise. The Avalon Active Discoveries options on the Luminary have me intrigued as our group is on the younger side (early 60's). Can anyone provide feedback on these excursions and also if any other river cruise line offers active excursion choices?
Another Midwesterner Posted October 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2017 We did the Active Discovery on the Danube in September and loved it. The ages of the passengers varied from 40's to 80's but all were interested in and mostly capable of the activities. There were 3 biking excursions, 1 canoeing, 1 woodland/vineyard hike, 1 run. There was also a cooking class and participatory craft and medieval knights tournament. Also there were normal group tours. Lots of options. The guides were all fun, helpful and knowledgeable. Happy to help if you have other questions.
Rare Got2Cruise Posted October 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2017 We enjoyed the Amawaterways Melodies of Danube. There was a bike and/or hike option at every stop. You could also borrow the bikes and ride yourself without a tour. These were regular bikes. No electric bikes.
