debbie0303 Posted September 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2005 Hi folks can anyone help me with the port of Wrangell? What to do what to see. I don't usually do excursions with the cruise line so any info would be helpful, thank you.We were scheduled to leave Sept. 12 on the NCL Dream and have just (TODAY) been swithced to the NCL Sun and our departure has been move up a day as well as port changes. I am scrambling trying to book excursions. This is the only one I can't find any information on.
Yukon Posted September 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2005 It's not a common port for the big ships, so there aren't as many choices as in most other ports, but the city's Web site gives loads of choices - http://www.wrangell.com/ . My choice is to get as far up the Stikine River as your time will allow - the variety of scenery in a short distance is quite astounding, from open coast to tight glacial-river valley. debbie0303 Posted September 8, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted September 8, 2005 thank you for the info. Would you suggest renting a car or what other means do we have to go up river?
Yukon Posted September 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2005 There are no roads that direction - it's boat charter only. Murray

Murray Murray, We did the Stikine River and Glacier Wilderness by Jet Boat excursion through NCL. We were on the Stikine Dream (Breakaway Adventures) run by Captain Eric Yancey. We had a great time and took tons of pictures - especially up at Shakes Lake with the icebergs and getting pretty close to the Shakes Glacier. If anyone wants to see the pictures from the excursion, they are at http://www.picturetrail.com/jdrushton in the Wrangell album. JR
