hbe Posted July 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2018 Going on our 1st MSC cruise, the Seaside, with granddaughters, aged 8,7 and 4. They have been to NCL' club and loved it. I was wondering how MSC's club compares. Thanks
mikesteg Posted July 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2018 We have no experience with NCL, but our kids really like MSC's camp. What we could see of it from outside looked quite nice. From the parents' perspective, not so enjoyable. They were poorly organized on check in. Filling out the pre-registration paperwork was pointless (but hopefully has changed.) The week we were on they had an Easter egg hunt which our kids (and many others) missed because we only showed up 15 minutes early and couldn't get checked in on time. We had already registered, but they didn't have a separate line for check in vs. registration. They still ran the egg hunt on schedule, even with dozens of kids waiting in line. Really, really poor management. However... that is not consistent with our experience on 4 other MSC cruises. Generally they have their 'stuff' together, so hopefully they've cured their issues on Seaside by now. In fact, we had taken our kids on several Carnival cruises and they would never stay in camp... until our first MSC cruise (on Poesia) where the staff was much nicer and the kids had a much better time. MSC is a bit different (at least from Carnival) in that they move the kids around the ship much more frequently. It didn't seem to be as frequent on Seaside, but they were also overrun with ~1200 kids on the ship that week. Seaside is an awesome ship. Totally doesn't feel like there are 5000 other people on the ship. If you have the AI package, there are self-serve soda, beer, and wine taps are the far rear of the buffet. Also, two words of advice: gelato milkshakes.
