Le Havre to Portsmouth Ferry

We are spending 3 days in Le Havre before traveling to Southampton for our upcoming TA in Sept. We have tickets for the ferry from Le Havre which arrives in Portsmouth at 10:30 pm, & have hotel reservations In Southampton that same night. Does anyone know if there will be taxis at the ferry terminal I can take or do I need a car service? Thank you.

There will be taxis at the Continental ferry terminal.

But for the distance to Southampton - 20 miles plus - it's a lot cheaper to pre-book a car service. At a guess, £35 to £40 for a car.

www.smithsforairports.com and www.aquacars.co.uk are both based in Portsmouth and both are frequently used by Cruise Critic members.

Do make sure to book from the international ferry port, that's not the same place as Portsmouth Harbour, which is for Isle of Wight ferries

Or you can travel by train - you'd need a 2-mile (about £7) taxi hop to Portsmouth & Southsea station. Trains to Southampton central station take something under an hour & cost £10.20 per person. Train at 11.20pm on weekdays

National Express coaches have a coach service from the terminal to Southampton coach station but there's no suitably-timed coach.

Do check that your hotel is aware of and can cater for your late arrival.

It would have been easier to book a Portsmouth hotel and then go to Southampton by car or by train in the morning.
