ABQrobin Posted December 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2017 We are debating between a couple of cruises in late April-early May that stop in Grand Turk. DH wants us to dive Grand Turk and that is why we are set on these itineraries. One ship arrives in the morning, the others don't arrive until around lunchtime. I would guess the morning one is no problem, dive time would be shortly after arrival, 4 hours long, then a few hours to hit one of the beach bars for a beer before getting back on ship. The afternoon ones are my question...if the ship arrives at 11-noon timeframe, when do they schedule the dive meetup time? Is it just after arrival of the ship, or later, like 2pm in afternoon. That would leave DH no time to have a beer after diving. Yes, that is important...he wants a beer at every port we stop at, every cruise. His ritual. Anyone dive at Grand Turk when ship arrives midday? thanks
happybubbles21 Posted December 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2017 No problem going diving in the afternoon but it gets dark early in the winter. Both ship's tour (cattle boat) and independents (not a cattle boat) will get you in the water ASAP or about 45 minutes after you dock. Figure start to finish about 4 hours for a two tank dive. A single tank would allow a leisurely beer at Jack's Shack before getting back on board. But you may have to book with an independent shop to do a single tank dive. Most afternoon dockings only allow about 5 hours on Island so he may have to drink quick on the beach before getting back on board. .The independent dive shops could probably bring a beer along for after the second dive if asked in advance. So who did you dive with? I am just asking about times the boats go out.
LocoLoco1 Posted January 2, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2018 My kinda guy. Diving in MORNING avoids more PM winds and showers. PLUS, if you are cancelled for one reason or another...you merely dive later. AFTERNOON will work too, as:beer-mug: Beer is very, very close at hand on Grand Turk no matter where or when you dive.
