Parking at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal Question

My husband and I will be going on our first Cruise in October 2018 on NCL ship Escape our of the Manhattan Cruise terminal. I have a question regarding the parking and security of the terminal garage. Is there security at all at the parking facility? How is the overall experience parking at the terminal? Thank you.

We've used it several times. Quite secure. It's only open days when a ship is arriving/departing. Discussed a lot on the "east coast departures" board.

The experience is excellent. The parking lots (not really a garage) are located on top of the terminal buildings and is very secure. It is also somewhat expensive. When we use that parking lot we drive right up to the lot and find a parking spot, You can then walk to the terminal (they have elevators) with your luggage. Another option is to drop one in your party with luggage, go park, and come back to meet them. The parking area is very secure, for NYC :).

There are other parking lots/garages within a few blocks of the terminal that are somewhat less expensive. But we find that its worth the extra money to park right at the port.
