Labadee, Haiti Snorkeling

Anyone have experience snorkeling from the beach?

Hubby and I will bring our own gear, but we are debating just snorkeling for the beach vs the Labadee Snorkel Safari - QLB2. I would like to rent the 2 person lounger if we don't do the Snorkel Safari.

What I don't want is to be herded in a big group of people while trying to snorkel.

We are on the same cruise as you guys, have done Labadee several times in the past, from the beach there is not a whole lot snorkel wise, if you get out a bit towards the rocks it does get somewhat better. Also they supposedly dropped reef balls in earlier this year for better wave control and better snorkeling in the bay.

We ended up doing the speed boat snorkel and really enjoyed it. The reef was beautiful but the water was so shallow in spots we had to avoid touching the reef.

We did NOT like Labadee. It was shabby, the food was terrible, the "artists" were way too aggressive and the lunch buffet was sub-par. I am sorry we decided to walk around after the snorkel tour.
