Tipping for Tables in Britannia

I haven't yet read any comments on the propriety/effectiveness of tipping the Maitre D'in Britannia to obtain a desired table.

Anyone tried? Juicy details?

He seems to be trying very hard to accomadate everyone. We did not tip in him advance as we felt that Siberian Table 272 was a poor table to begin with given our cateogory and that he should change it. Had I requested a table in the center, I would have tipped him.

I did tip him the last morning as he went out of his way to talk to us a breakfast one morning and explain the problems/issues the staff were expereincing and was very nice to us. But then we always tip the Maitre d' (and any assistants/waiters - in this case we had a different table every night, so the only constant was the Maitre d,) at the end of the cruise.

We usually tip the maitre'd and probably will on the QM2. I'll let you know the details.
