Alicante port question

Recommended Posts

We are meeting some friends when our ship (Seabourn Pride) docks in Alicante on 9 October.

Is anyone familiar enough with the port to recommend a logical meeting place?

They are driving to Alicante & will need to park a car.

I don’t have a sense of whether there is a single entrance to the cruise terminal area or how big it is.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have only just seen your post. Hope I am not too late to be of help.

I would suggest meeting in the bar of the Melia Hotel. It is right near where the port shuttle bus drops you off and there is a large underground car park opposite it.

Edit to say : I see you are on Seabourn Pride. As this is small it may dock even nearer the hotel with no shuttle bus needed. You cannot miss the Melia as you leave the port gates.

There are 2 areas where the cruise ships dock.

Medium to large ships are at the new terminal which means a shuttle bus to the port gates. Normally the port authority provides this free of charge.

Smaller ships (eg Windstar and possibly your Seabourn) can dock much nearer the port gates. If this is the case you just walk out the gates.

In both cases you leave the port area at the same place and just a couple of hundred yards, on the right hand side, towards town is the Hotel Melia.

On the ground floor of the hotel, on the left, passed reception is a nice bar where you will be able to meet your friends.

Hope you enjoy Alicante. Do your friends live here?

Thought this map might make things a bit clearer.

MeliaAlicantemap.gif

The grey area sticking out at the bottom of the map is the port area. Where the yellow ends is roughly where the shuttle bus will drop you or where you get off the ship if it docks near the port gates.

The 'google' red marker is Hotel Melia.

OK English, hope you can help. have a group of Catholics coming into Alicante. where should we go? Murcia? Orihuela? or do you know of better places? thanks

What sort of thing do you want to do and see? Are you saying that your main interests will be religion based?

How big a group are you? Do you want something to do together as a group?

When are you coming (time of year, day of week)? What ship are you on?

Let me know these things and I will see if I can help.
