enchantment2007 Posted June 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2006 I'm getting married aboard RCCL Enchantment of the Seas in June 2007. Did any past brides feel their wedding ceremony was too short since it can only be 15 minutes long? Does anyone have a ceremony program I can look at to get an idea of what the ceremony can be like? Thank you. jpflorida@hotmail.com
dcdiva Posted June 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2006 Royal Romance was able to provide me with the standard ceremony and vows that they used in my port (Key West). I wasn't thrilled with them, so we submitted our own. (I bascially pulled together the things I like from several standard ceremonies I found on various websites.) I had RR check them to make sure they had all the necessary legal langauge for Florida and that's what we went with. The ceremony itself took about 20 minutes including the processional and such. A fifteen minute ceremony is probably longer than you think. We certainly felt that ours was neither too long nor too short.
i3utterfli82 Posted June 14, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2006 Unless you are having a mass of some kind, ceremonies are usually all around 15 minutes. I don't think it is too short at all, really all you need are the I do's, ring exchange, and kiss! Then its time to celebrate! Stef

dcdiva Posted June 21, 2006 #10 Share Posted June 21, 2006 Hi all - The vows provided by Royal Romance for our Feb 2005 wedding aboard Jewel of the Seas were okay. I've included them below in case you are interested. We decided to use something a little longer that's has a bit more personal meaning to us. We added a unity candle-type ceremony, and a closing blessing. I pulled them together from several sample ceremonies I found on various websites and ran them by RR to make sure they were legal! Ours worked nicely, but the standard vows are okay as well... We are gathered here today To witness and celebrate, the joining of ________ and ________ in Holy Matrimony. ________ and ______ who have brought to this moment The fullness of their hearts as a treasure to share, with each other, In the mutual bond that we all know as marriage. ________ and ________, you are both so very fortunate To have found each other. In this day and age, when trust and love are so frequently tested, And patience and determination will so often be outmatched, It’s good to know and feel safe in the fact, That you can count on each other For a higher strength, and a clearer focus. _______ and ________, To be partners on your lifetime journey together, It is important to remember the two individuals that make up your partnership Respect and nurture those qualities that are so unique to yourselves And that have drawn you together to this moment, right now. ______, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, To live together in the Holy Estate of Matrimony And to keep yourself, only unto her for as long as you both shall live? ______, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, To live together in the Holy Estate of Matrimony And to keep yourself only unto him for as long as you both shall live? May I please have the rings? The giving and receiving of rings Symbolizes your love for one another, which knows no end. So may these rings be blessed as a symbol of you unity. Please repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed, in love and truth. As the circle of this ring knows no end, neither shall my love for you. Please wear it always, as a symbol of my love. With this ring, I thee wed, in love and truth. As the circle of this ring knows no end, neither shall my love for you. Please wear it always, as a symbol of my love. Now you will feel no rain, for each will be shelter to the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each will bring warmth to the other. There is no more loneliness, for each will companion to the other. And so it is, that by powers vested in my By the Great Sunshine State of Florida I am proud to pronounce that you are husband and wife.
scottishflower Posted June 21, 2006 #11 Share Posted June 21, 2006 FYI, theres no legal language requirement for ceremonies in the state of Florida; we wrote our whole ceremony ourselves (delivered by a Key West wedding officiant). The legal requirements deal with licence application and its notarization by an officiant, clergy or notary.
