Hi,

We are taking our first cruise and will be on the Legend July 11, 2009 departing from Rome on the SARDINIA, CORSICA & COTE D'AZUR :):) cruise then the last night will be overnight on the ship in Monte Carlo Monaco.

We are trying to arrange our ground transportation from the cruise ship in Monte Carlo to the airport in Nice France to catch a 9:45am flight on July 18…

we were quoted $250 US ground transportation by Seabourn and this seems really expensive to us. Can you please let us know if there a more affordable option maybe how would we book a taxi – is this even possible when we need to catch a 9:45am flight on a Saturday July 18, 2009 morning?

thank you!!

quite frankly..that is not too expensive...you can count on it..and the luggage will be cared for. If you arranged for a limo..it would be nearly the same..and you would have to worry about ....will they be there? Also, you could arrange for a heli...but..that too is expensive. The taxis have very little luggage space..as do many of the cars. Monte Carlo is an expensive place.

Sorry to disagree, regarding the taxis from Monte to Nice. They, at least the 2 times we used them, were Mercedes S class sedans and were huge. Certainly roomy enough for 2 people and 4 suitcases. We also did not arrange in advance as there were many waiting at the pier. Also no problem if you're arriving Nice. That being said, there is no way to make your flight at 9:30AM. Suggest you overnight Nice.

If you search the site, there are other options discussed on this topic. I agree, however, 0945 is too early to get to the airport by 0845 (at the least), check in, go to security, and board the plane

However, if the ship overnights in MC, then you can make arrangements to disembark early if you have already cleared immigration and customs the night before.

No matter, it will be worth all the angst once you board and are in the hands of the capable crew and staff. And then you will be spoiled forever. Happy Cruising!

As ship is overnighting in Monte Carlo you will be able to leave when you want in morning. To be at airport at 07.45 you need to disembark at 07.00. Do not put luggage through normal system but keep in room and inform Pursers Office that you need help to remove it from suite to transport at about 06.45. I always use Tourazur in Nice/Monte Carlo. Go to their website and organise transport for 07.00. We have done it with no problems including March in Shanghai. Cost will be half Seabourn`s.

thank you! - we booked with Tour Azure!! just what we wanted timing and everything!! :)

Enjoy your cruise and do`nt worry about return journey but remember do`nt let your luggage get caught in general system but keep in room. You will be fine if you follow timings.

Taxis are usually readily available and the cost is approximately 80.

If I remember correctly, it depends about the amount of luggage you have. Most of the taxis are small...it takes a larger vehicle to carry what you need on a cruise. That of course could have changed. Lola

Any recent recommendations for transfer companies or experiences with those mentioned.

Any one used Monte Carlo Limousine recently?

Anyone know how much Seabourn charges for group coach transfer or private limousine transfer from Monaco port to Nice airport?

If the ship docks at Monte Carlo at 7am, what time are people expected to disembark? We are looking at getting the 3pm flight from Nice and would like to not be in limbo with our bags.

Many thanks:)

We always use Heli Air Monaco for the transfer from Nice to Monaco and v-v, and we use it quite regularly as my parents-in-law have a house in the area.

I highly recommend it but as we only use it for our short visits to the in laws we don't have much luggage. So for a cruise you will need to check the baggage allowance.

I always use Heli Air Monaco both ways. quick and not that expensive

I second that. We did the TA on the Sojourn to Monaco in March. We had reserved a flight for the two of us on line before we left for around $250.00. When we disembarked there was a long line of passengers (100 or so) milling about do to a transportation strike and also an accident which had pretty much shut down the road to Nice. The group was told there would be a 2 or 3 hour delay. As arranged, Heli Air picked us up at the dock (you go through the gate at the end of the building to meet them) loaded our luggage and took us to their terminal about 5 minutes away. The flight to Nice is about 10 minutes. Good thing because we would have surely missed our fight to Paris had we arranged ground transportation.
