Shopping near port

Can anyone tell me about shopping near the port/pier? Interested in getting Bacardi rums that can't get in conus US. Is there a shop near pier? What about spices, etc? Won't be there long, 4-11pm, and have evening plans on the ship. Thanks.

There are hundreds of shops in Old San Juan, and I'm sure you will find everything you need/want in one of those shops. We did by liquor from there, but I can't for the life of me remember where? We bought a lot on the cruise! :p

Oh, and it was all within walking distance too. Not bad at all!

We have a late afternoon stop on the Caribbean Princess in January - from 4:00 pm - 10:30 pm. How late are the shops open in Old San Juan - and is it safe to walk there after dark - and then back to the ship?

Sure are!!! On our 20/03 cruise the Triumph arrived in SJ at 5pm. we walked al the way up to EL Morro and back. Making stops at some of the shops. We had a wonderful time. And never feared for our safety.

I read some of the shops close at 5:00p.m., but they never said which ones. I hope this isn't the case. I don't know if they meant Old San Juan or the Condado shops?

how long (distance/time) was the walk from port to Ell Morro and back??

Planning to do the same but have no idea.
