Took my Handicapped wife on Maasdam Cruise. Handicapped room was nice and ship was ok. Crew was another story , be prepared to fend for yourself they care not much about anything. Once your on and they pull away from the dock, they have your money. Whether you spend any more or not they've already gotten at least $500 per person per room. Figure it out. They take in about $ 1 Mil. + , for rooms alone, and crew costs are minimal, they want you to supplement them with tips.  :(

What do you mean by "crew costs are minimal"??? The crew gets very little salary, and is dependent upon tips to have anything to send home to their families. This is not right, but the rates would definately go up if the cruise lines paid them a living wage.

We have not had the problems you describe on HAL. Service has been very good from cabin stewards, waiters, and other staff in these categories. Of course you do have to be specific about what your needs are for assistance (such as getting on and off tenders or up/down ramps at docks), but we have always found them willing to follow direction of an officer, and I always speak to the officer in charge about our needs.

Was this your first cruise? Can you be more specific????

The cost of the Crew is minimal to the Cruise line they expect you to pay them with your Tips. They Should Just include it into the cost of the Cruise and pay them a decent Salary.:p
