sanddune Posted July 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2005 I have a Autistic son. We are going on VOS. Is there a area that we can check in without being crowded. Crowds and loud noises realy cause a problem for him. Thanks
kitty9 Posted July 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2005 Unless you wait until later in the afternoon once all others have checked in, there's not much you can do to avoid crowds---there isn't a quiet or separate check in area----it will be crowded until after 2pm. What are you going to do with your son for all other aspects of the cruise? Almost all places will be crowded and noisy, including the buffet and even the main dining room and the pool area will be very noisy and crowded. You're going to be on a ship with over 3000 people, including crew, who will be having lots of fun and making lots of noise all over the ship, so be prepared for anything. sanddune Posted July 9, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted July 9, 2005 My son has cruised before. He does fine as long as there is some space in between people. He normaly wears a hat down low over his eyes and sunglasses. If it gets to loud he normaly goes back to the room to quiet down again. It's just normaly the first day not knowing where he is and everyone rushing and bumping into people. Thanks After 11 cruises I have learned that if you can get to the port early prior to anyone checking in & wait until they open the checkin counter then you'll be the first few on board! We always make sure we are at the port by 10:30 or so.....mpst of the time the people are still disembarking! As soon as they are all off the ship they will get a security clearance to start the boarding process..... Hope this helps you... Sue ALso if you book a suite or are a c&a member-you may get to have priority checkin.
