Handicapped cabins Zenith vs. JOS?....

Hvae only booked a handicapped cabin on the Zenith, so that is all i have to compare it to. We are booked in 3078 on the JOS, does anyone know what the configuration is like, is it just as accessible as Zenith or more?.......If anyone has any info would be greatly appreciated.....:)

I am in a wheelchair and have been on 14 cruises. We were on the Jewel

in Canada last October and found it to be the most accessible we have

ever been on. Everything is larger, modern and just plain fun to be on.

We were on the Zenith a few years ago, but not in a handicap cabin since my husband could still walk a few feet at the time. We had no real accessibility issues on the Zenith, but it was not as easy to get around as most newer ships. We have not been on the Jewel, but we have been on two ofits sister ships, the Radiance and the Serenade. Both were definitely more accessible than the Zenith.

Jewel is amazingly handicapped accessed. There are pneumatic doors everywhere. The handicapped bathrooms are plentiful. It is easy to get onto the outside decks.

That said, the elevators are a nightmare. They are laid out over a wide area and by the time you wheel over to the one that is arriving, it is full.

I did not mention the elevators because I hoped they split them into two banks or changed the design on the Jewel. They were the only real hassle we had during our 9 day cruise on the Serenade. Of course, it would not be such a problem if other passengers were polite and did not try to beat wheelchair passengers to the elevator and/or held the elevators for them. But I probably should not gp there.

We had a very nice cabin on the Zenith about 10 years ago. Have not been on her since so can't comment on the current conditions, but the bathroom was ample with a good roll-in shower, the closet space was good, and we had plenty of room for 3 (one in a bunk bed). We like the fact that Celebrity puts their handicapped cabins on wider hallways so it is easy to get past the linen carts. We had exceptional service on the Zenith....my mother never had to try to carry a tray, we were escorted to the head of every line (including the captain's cocktail parties) and all those on board during the Panama Canal transit who had disabilities were invited to the captain's private lounge for the entire transit (with drink and food service by his private steward).
