Canopy Tours in PV

I copied the following from a post that I made previously in a "Roll Call" forum - my son and I are booked with Los Veranos on March 13th.

****************************************************************************

There appears to be 5 major Zip Line companies.

(1) Outdoor Adventure/ Vallarta Adventures (aka Canopy North) (I think this is the tour company used by most cruise lines - including Princess), URL:http://www.vallarta-adventures.com/canopy-tour/index.html Since this is through the cruise line; it should be a safe bet.

(2) Canopy Tours de Los Veranos, URL: http://www.canopytours-vallarta.com/ Appears to be one of the most popular based on my review of various forums. Fodors.com says: “Puerto Vallarta's newest thrill is canopy rides: zipping from one observation post in the treetops to another. The longest, Canopy Tours de Los Veranos also has the most impressive scenery. It crosses the Rio Los Horcones half a dozen times on several miles of cables. Plan to stay awhile after your airborne adventure: you can spend a morning or afternoon playing in the river or dining at Los Canopy's waterside bar-restaurant.”

(3) Canopy El Eden, URL: http://www.canopyeleden.com/main.php

(4) Canopy La Vista, URL: ??can’t find one?? Here is a tour company’s website: https://puertovallarta.net/tours/tou...land&sortvalue=

(5) Rio Cuale (aka Canopy River), URL: ??can’t find one?? Here is a tour company’s website: https://puertovallarta.net/tours/tou...re&sortvalu e=

I have spent 2 or 3 hours reviewing different posts. It appears all the canopy tours are good, but the 1st two - Vallarta Adventures (VA) and Los Veranos (LV) appear to be the most established. They all are around US$70 per person when you book online.

Vallarta Adventures Vs. Los Veranos (Copied from the following link)

http://messages.cruisecritic.com/sho...d.php?t=473684)

Difference -

Vallarta Adventures is a "classic" canopy tour. Nearly all the zip lines are tree-top to tree-top with a 70+ foot rappel at the end and a hike back up the hill to the starting point; Los Veranos is a zip line thrill ride with nearly all the lines spanning a river canyon with the last line returning you to the starting place. VA has very little walking during the excursion while LV has you walk (generally uphill) from landing station to the next launch station. VA has a snack bar at the excursion site; LV has a river swimming hole and full service restaurant at the end. VA has limited excursion times, LV has multiple times available throughout the day. VA's excursion office is in the Marina; LV's is located on the south side of "old town" Vallarta.

Staff -

Outstanding staff with both companies.

Better -

Depends what you want to do. VA is more of an eco tour while LV is a thrill ride. For land vacationers, tour time availability is not an issue. For cruisers, I like the flexiblity LV offers (especially for people on Carnival Pride). I also like LV for cruisers because their tour office is within easy walking distance to the rest of Vallarta (old town and el centro) while there is a limited number of things to see/do in the Marina.

NOTE: The pickup point for LV is their PV office, which is a 20 minute taxi ride from the port.

We were wondering if anyone knows which tour company in PV offers the extreme canopy adventure that is listed as one of Carnivals excursions. Its the canopy tour that includes a mule ride, zip lining, and repeling.

Thanks for your help!

We just returned from our cruise on the NCL Star. In PV we took the zip line tour at Los Veranos. We had an awesome time. The equipment is all in good shape and the staff is a hoot. Who could complain about a bunch of buff Mexican guys who are there to show you some fun? Watch for Rafael of the wonderful radio voice and Jorge who rides the lines like a monkey. The mini "zoo" at the end is fascinating as well. We hear the VA tour is good too, with the rapelling and burro ride, but we highly recommend Los Veranos. It's a beautiful ride out to the area as well. There is some climbing, but there are plenty of rest spots and a free soda at the end to quench your thirst. There were so many lines we couldn't count them! Way cool!

  • 2 weeks later...

In Decemeber we sailed with RCCL and we did the Los Veranos Canopy tour and just as other posts have stated: "it was great." However we just got back from another trip to PV and did the VA Outdoor tour and my husband thought it was by far the better choice. He thought the zip lines (at least for him) were much faster at VA than those at Veranos. The lines and equipment are a little different from each other. The tour for us included a speed boat ride across the bay, the ride in the Unimog, the mule ride up the mountain, zip lines and the rappelling. (sp?) The staff at both places were great! They were friendly, helpful and most of all made sure that we had a safe adventure. The snacks at VA were not much, (chips and salsa), the snacks at Los Veronas were chips, salsa and a drink. If you want more variety included in your tour I would say to do the VA Outdoor Adventure.
