Tipping Youth Program Staff?

Recommended Posts

I have picked up alot of great ideas here in preparation for my first cruise! One issue that I haven't seen addressed is the tipping of the youth program staff. I plan to tip them but I am not sure how to do it. Will my daughter see the same staff members each day or will there be several people throughout the week? How have you handled this?

Usually, there are the same staffers for each age group, so your child will see the same people during the week. The "late night party zone" rotates staff, but there is a charge (per child, per hour) for that, and I did not tip an additional amount. I usually gave an envelope to one of the staffers at the "adventure ocean redemption party" near the end of the cruise. (The kids get "adventure ocean dollars" for attending and can redeem them for small items)

Actually its unfortunate that there arn't any guidelines for this.

The AO staff was exceptional I thought. And they never mentioned anything about tips. Only on the last evening, there were tip envelopes by the sign out desk.

Well worth a nice tip!

Last year on EOS, the last day, there were tip envelopes on the table in AO. Believe me, they deserved every penney I put in it. I wish they would have had some guidelines but I had never seen any so I used the $7.50 per day idea. They did as much or more work than our stewards did keeping up with those kids.

their salary is also much different than that of the cabin stewards and wait staff. the latter works in an industry that depends on tips, the former should be likened to your day care facility at home.
