LA will be like any winter..rain in town and snow over the grapevine..first night and next day will pretty much cold and maybe rain too at sea..

then in the evening..you ll start to feel the warm humid air..quite a change from that morning..

on our Jan cruise..Acopolco was HOT!! and humid..Ixtapa no better..PV a little cooler but, still hot..then a little relief in Cabo..sorta like summer in the Calif. Central Valley in the summer..

the return to San Pedro..expect the weather to be windy and cold..maybe rough seas too..not the type of weather to be walking the promenade..

Absolutely agree with the poster who says there is no guarantee what the weather will be in LA in December. I live in Southern California and we've had warm weather in December in LA many, many times and sometimes cool weather. Someone posted that it is like any winter and there will be rain in LA and snow in the grapevine. Not really the case. We have some winters in Southern Cal where we get very, very little rain and some winters more. I've done this cruise in early January and early December and have had warm days all 7 days and have had cruises where the weather is cool the first and last sea day. Never had rain at sea but it is always a possibility. Not having lived in other parts of the US except Oregon, it seems like weather patterns are more predictable in other parts of the country then they are in Southern California. Our weather patterns are predictable only in the fact that in most cases they are pretty temperate.

I have a suggestion for Puerta Vallarta...........have you ever done a Zip Line? This was our favorite, ever, excursion. Google "Los Veranos", they have a very informative website. Book independently, much cheaper than thru the ship. Your 12 yr old will really have something to tell friends about! There is tons of info on this on these boards, if you do a search.

Mazatlan........lots of people do a tour to Stone Island. There are several companies that offer basically the same thing............a 1 hr catamarin ride in the harbor, and three hours at the beach on Stone Island, lunch included, with a choice of two (out of five) 1/2 hour activities. We chose the pony ride thru the village, and the sea kayaking. Nice, fun, day. We used Puesta del Sol company, a Google search will find them for you.
