AndyRusty Posted December 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2009 We went on a HAL cruise las May. I used cash in the casino to pay for the poker tournament buy ins and to play cash poker games. I know that some players paid on their card for the buy ins. We are going on a cruise next apr/may and have already got my US$ for the poker tables. CruiseReg Posted December 28, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2009 Nothing on HAL ships is fully cashless. Slot machines/video poker/etc allow buy with paper bills (no coins!), but cashing out is via your shipboard card. You establish a pin code, deposit money on your card. You can also use your card to buy credits directly on the machines. To cash out, you bring your card to the casino cage, enter your pin code, sign the receipt and you are handed your winnings in cash. All of the rest of the casino, the table games not including the Poker Pro tables, are cash buy in exchanged for chips. Chips can then be cashed in at the Casino cage. I've not used the Poker Pro tables on HAL (I generally hate them), but when they were first introduced on Carnival, you paid a small fee for a Poker Pro card that you then loaded with funds at the Casino cage. It may be different now, but that is how it worked a few years back on Carnival which is owned by the same parent company as HAL, Carnival Corporation (stock ticker CCL). CCL Casinos fall under the Ocean Player's Club management, also owned by CCL.
