Sorry, another Luau question

I have narrowed it down to 2

1) Paradise Cove, very pricey IMHO for the deluxe pkg. is it worth the extra money for the pre- luau activities? It seems that there is a huge amount of people for this particular luau , will there actually be time to take advantage of them.

2) Germaines, little less exspensive but no pre-Luau activities, food looks like it might be better...

Would anyone please share their opinions.

We did Paradise Cove and really enjoyed it. But, that said, we've never experienced anything else. The setting was perfectly beautiful and the activities were kinda fun! You'll see complaints about long lines at the bars and for some of the activites but we didn't go to a luau for the drinks. ;) Yes, you get free drink tickets but just hold on to them until dinner is served when everyone is at the feeding trough instead! Also, we didn't upgrade our package. We purchased the least expensive...the seats aren't ALL that much better...you just get a nicer lei when you arrive!

I've been to both many times and I enjoy Germaine's the best. You are allowed to select your own seats and I like the food better. In order to get seats close to the stage, I always get a table as soon as I get there. If you have a large group going, you can call and ask them to reserve a table for you. If not, place your leis on the table before going to the imu ceremony and this will let others know that the seats have already been taken. Hope this helps a little.

Like angie, we only did one luau but we did Germaines and really liked it. We have nothing to compare it to, but we weren't dissappointed. We are tourists,a nd it was everything wre thought a luau should be. We did notice that if you want a table right up front, there must be an extra charge because those tables were reserved. We walked along the beach at sunset and took these amazing pictures.

I've never paid an extra fee for a table close to the stage. If you have enough people in your group, you can call in advance and inform them the number in your party and request a table near the stage and they will do this for you. Whenever it's just a few of us going, one of us will get a table instead of waiting in the line to take a picture.

went to paradise cove last year and will be going again in 3 weeks. thought it was well worth the money. we did the deluxe so we had a front row seat and also we were served our food and did not have to wait in the buffet line. did feel a little rushed to see everything, but was still fun. food was great.

The show itself was great. We had to meet a certain areas in down town Waikiki for pickup at 4pm by bus. Once we arrived everyone was lined up at the entrance and given either a alcoholic or non alcoholic fruit punch then presented with a lei.

Once inside they had activities going in different areas. Hula lessons, making flower head thingys, sarong tying demonstrations. Then the demo on how they fish that was funny as they picked a group of people out of the audience to participate and made two teams. Very funny. Finally they did a performance when removing the food from the underground oven. Then everyone was seated at their tables for their meal which was buffet style. Not everyone did the buffet at the same time it was done by a couple of tables at a time. But if you want more than one go at the buffet be quick as they close it up very soon after everyone has attended it. Once the feeding frenzy is over the evening's performance begins. By 9pm it is all over and we are herded back onto the buses and dropped off where we were picked up. I Personally we had a good time. Here is the place we went through much cheaper than Paradise Cove itself. We had the cheaper seats and they were fine.
