Flying from London to Barcelona with Celebrity

We're flying from London Heathrow to Barcelona to join our first Celebrity cruise, on Century. The flights and transfers are provided by Celebrity which appears to have a group booking on scheduled flights.

 

My OH suffers from claustrophobia so we normally organise an aisle seat towards the front of the plane, normally using the airline's on-line system. BA doesn't appear to allow pre-booking for group travel. Does anyone have advice on how to get a suitable seat for these flights, other than checking in at the airport very early?

hi, you can only book your seat 24 hours before departure, on line. you can

see the configuration of the plane and you tick which seats you want. this is the only way

In addition, if you wish to request an exit row seat in World Traveller or World Traveller Plus you can do so from 10 days to 4 days before your flight, subject to availability.

Exit row seats can be requested on an individual passenger basis and do not have to be purchased for all passengers on a booking.

Exit row seats are situated either next to or immediately behind the exit door. In the unlikely event of an evacuation you will be expected to assist in the opening of the emergency door.

Exit row seats are non-transferable.

We have the sole discretion to determine whether you meet the requirements to sit in an exit row seat. If you do not meet the requirements, you will be assigned an alternative seat and the amount paid for the seat will not be refunded.

If after the date of requesting an exit row seat you become unable to fulfil the requirements to sit in an exit row seat then you should contact us. You will be eligible to apply for a refund if you contact us at least 48 hours before your flight.

Gold Executive Club members, oneworld Emerald equivalents, and other passengers on the same booking can request an exit row seat free of charge, at any time before their flight.

Exit row seats can be pre-assigned at a cost of £50 or $75 per person per sector. This fee will be converted into local currency where applicable.

Prices quoted are correct as 25 September 2009 and are subject to change.

I'm not definite - but I think that charge doesn't apply once you have reached the last 24 hours before flight time, when you can check in on line.

We are talking exit rows - that is where the charge now is.

 

You will still be able to choose your seat for free when you check in. Checking in on ba.com provides the earliest opportunity to do this.

Thanks for everyone's help so far. I think the only option is an early journey to Heathrow.

 

Our TA has informed us that the seats have been booked under a 'group locator' so I don't think I will be able to check in on-line using ba.com.

 

Our flight departs T3 at 07:35. What time will check in open for the flight? 04:35?

 

I await your further advice with gratitude but a sinking heart. :(
