itzkelly Posted November 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2009 We just got back yesterday from our Ecstasy cruise...and we came back winners!! DH and I were only able to get to the casino together the final night of the cruise, and we went immediately to the craps table and started off with $100. A couple hours later, we left the table with $400! What a fun night! Thanks to your advice, we stuck to only pass line bets (with full odds) as well as come bets (with full odds). There were several times we had all the numbers covered, and would just get paid over and over on some long rolls ~ one lady even tipped me $5 after I rolled for a long time myself, saying I helped win her money back, lol. I was really surprised that I truly was the only player really betting come bets, even when the table was full of players surrounding it. The guy next to me finally started doing it after watching me get paid over and over. The dealers were really helpful by reminding to keep my come bet on the line so that I could just get paid and leave the bet standing (I guess it's easier for them to pay out as well?) - one guy rolled like 4 10's in a row and since I always had a come bet on the line, I got 4 $25 chips in a row....sweet! We finally left the table once it was getting cold, and seriously within 5 minutes from leaving, the table was completely empty and I think they even shut it down altogether shortly thereafter. We ended up taking $60 to the blackjack table and then leaving after doubling it to $120. Overall an excellent casino night for us - we are now official craps lovers! :):) Thanks again for all your help...this board is awesome! Kelly :) HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO itzkelly: I am glad that you and your husband enjoyed yourselves and it proved to be profitable. It won't always be that way so enjoy the moments when they come. The way you played is the only way you can get the full payout on odds bets. Good luck on future cruises. Maybe we'll even be on a cruise together. Yo Eleven Posted November 20, 2009 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2009 Hello! Glad to hear you were a winner and enjoyed your game. Glad I wasn't at that table. Sounds like I would have taken a bath there. As for being surprised nobody else was placing Come bets..... Well it is a cruise ship and most people who play there dont have a friggin' clue how to play the game and don't understand the bet. I remember one fool thought that you place a marker in there to get the waitress to get you a drink or something. LOL! Go to Vegas or Atlantic city and you will see it played 24/7/365. See ya back here!

AndyTheK Posted November 21, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 21, 2009 Since most cruise lines only offer single odds its better to place bets than make come bets I disagree. According to http://wizardofodds.com/craps the house edge on flat bets with single odds is 0.848% and the edge on 6/8 place is 1.52%. Almost twice as high. Admittedly double odds, 3-4-5 (made a killing at Foxwoods a few years ago with this), and 5x are much better, but even single odds are better than place. It's now 31 days until my cruise on the Coral Princess. We'll see what happens.

jetwet1 Posted November 21, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2009 No it's not, the only time to really place bet's is when you have hit the limit on the come bets and odds, then you start loading up the place bets.

I play in a 20X game and always make a $5 flat come bet with $100 max odds. But on a cruise line single odds game having to REPEAT a number to collect single odds is tough. One thing I have noticed in the 3-4-5 odds games is regardless what the point is the payout is 7X your flat/front bet when you take max odds...nice to know so there are no payout errors. Good Luck on your cruise and may the monster hand show up.
LSTEFFA Posted November 22, 2009 #9 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yo Eleven...I was playing last weekend in a game and was thinking about the "dark-side" betters after the following dice hand. The shooter comes out on a 4. The casino allows 20X odds and a "dark side" player in the game has a $500 Don't pass bet and lays $10,000 in odds. He proceeds to make another $500 don't come bet with the number being 5...the house let him lay $12K (2 for 3).He makes another $500 DC with the number being 6...the house let him lay $12K (5 for 6)...makes another $500 DC..point 8..lays $12K...makes another $500 DC with the number being 9..lays $12K...makes another $500 DC bet with the number being 10....lays $10K. All numbers are covered so he stops betting. The shooter proceeded to roll in exact order a 10-9-8-6-5- and finally the point of 4...$59K down the tubes. Weirdest roll I have ever seen....I was on the do side with do come bets in the same sequence.
