land_girl Posted November 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2009 Fantastic value for money :) Following your recommendation,we took the one euro bus from Cannes to Nice (number 200) but when we got to Cagnes Sur Mer, we noticed there was a farming festival on so we jumped off the bus. We then spent a happy hour wandering around the stalls and animals and saw the tourist information stall. She was very helpful and told us about Renoir's house on the edge of town- she even gave us a map with the best walking route drawn on AND marked the correct bus stop to catch the 200 bus back to Cannes! It took 10 minutes to walk uphill to Renoir's house (4 euro entrance) it was a hidden gem that i can highly recommend as you can see his workshop/costumes for models to wear/sculptures etc and the views are superb- they have even laminated prints of his paintings next to the view so you can see the inspiration. We walked back to town and had some lunch, watched some French men participate in an axe chopping competition and there was even a parade of the animals with a French marching band but time caught up with us so we caught the bus back to Cannes. A lovely day out for 10 euros including lunch :)
