traveling with grandchildren

We recently cruised with our grandaughter. Upon embarkation the Holland America staff examined her permission letter from her parents very closely, If anyone is traveling with children and not their parents, make sure you have a notorized letter signed by both parents. From our experiences and that of friends, it seems as if HAL is more particular about this than airlines.

Yes, my dh and I took our nieces and nephew to WDW last year and I couldn't believe that I didn't need to provide any ID for the kids or any proof they were "mine" for the flights.

One should have a notarized letter showing you have permission for emergencies situations also.
