Nassau on SUNDAY... IS THE STRAW MARKET OPEN??

We will be going into Nassau on a Sunday and will only be there from 8:30am - 2:00pm. Will most things be open or closed?

I really want to go to the straw market but I read somewhere that it is closed on Sunday. This seems odd to me since they know the ships are coming in.

Has anyone been to Nassau on a Sunday that can share some concrete answers with me?

Weird question I know.... but I am worried about crime while in port. Can I bring a small thing of pepper spray into port with me??

Can I even bring it on the ship in the first place? Or the airplane that's going to get me there???

There will be some shops open, majority will be closed how ever. They have begun to make provisions for sunday shopping.
