19 year old on Carnival

My first cruise was when I was 18 and I'm now 23. I never really had a problem finding things to do, but I always had someone to do stuff with because my sister is only 11 months older than me. We never experienced any of the teen clubs or anything and still always managed to have a blast.

My only advice is to keep a keen eye out on the capers and encourage your daughter to maybe go to a few things that normally she wouldn't. I always enjoy the comedians, shows, and deck parties. I still loved the piano bar even though I wasn't 21.

Most of the 16-20 year old manage to find booze somehow. Someone will buy it for them or they will get it themselves from port and bring it on.

That is encouraging news:rolleyes:

but unfortunately, true for some.

Then she is really not considered an "adult" if she can't drink. But she can give her life in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Gotta love the double-standard.

Ya I know right? Have always been confused by the "double standard".. Atleast you can normally get off the ship and drink because it is normally legal everywhere else.

In Mexco you just need to be able to see over the bar :D

I was part of a senior trip last spring and as long as they were 18 (it was checked) they were allowed in the discos at night and all the shows...also the casino...had no problems...the only thing they could not do was PURCHASE alcohol. The young folks had a ball and believe it or not they wanted the adults involved in their fun...lol

I was 18 on our last cruise and was able to get into the disco at night. I had the best time of my life! Your daughter should be able to get in with no problem as long as she has her ID. I also met plenty of nice kids my age. Just tell her to have fun and thing will be great :)

To protect them from themselves, they are considered a minor, (drinking, on land gambling etc.), to protect others from them they are an adult, (I think some states can put a 13 year old on trial as an adult for certain crimes).

Besides that point, I will probably get flamed for this, when we took my 18 yr old DD on her cruise, her single Aunt, (age 30), was her roommate. We put money on her Aunt's account. Our DD had our permission to consume alcohol and she and her Aunt had a good time after we old folks went to bed.

I find if they are "forbidden" to do certain things, more then likely they will do it behind your back in excess. If they learn limits early, then no worries.

I do remember there was a single "meet and greet" for 18-20 year olds on teh Conquest and Fantasy.

I'm twenty, and I'll be going on my first cruise in Feb, along with my best friend who is also twenty. It is a very awkward age, and I've got eleven months left sadly. I think its crazy that there isn't a lot of things for our age group. Fortunately for us, we're pretty good at making up our own entertainment. It would still be cool though if there were some organized activities for that awkward crowd of 18-20s.
