Unique ideas for Nassau 12pm-7pm February 2010

Hello !

I am visiting Nassau for the day in early February. There doesnt seem to be a whole lot of options for the day that interest us .. We were wondering if there is something off the beaten path that we can do? Take a taxi to a random beach and hang out ? (Is this safe to do? We are a group of 6 20-somethings). We already know about doing a yellowbird booze cruise, Atlantis, AI day passes to resorts, Blue Lagoon ... Might not be the best weather in Nassau in early Feb, so maybe an option that doesnt rely on the weather being beautiful? Also, keeping costs down is a plus.

Thanks for any help ! :p

The day passes are discussed all over this thread....ad infinitum (nauseum) :p

The Wyndham and Sheraton are right next to each other, either one will suffice for a day pass although depending on when you go, the Sheraton might be a little cheaper.

Very simply, just get off the ship, go through the cruise terminal, find a taxi and have them take you to either of those hotels. Feeling adventurous and want to save a little money? You can take the local bus but jsyk.... you have to walk a couple of blocks through the very crowded market, all the while being hawked at, and then when you finally reach the bus(es) you will get on and sit there and sit there and sit there until bus is full and ready to move. Even when the driver says he is leaving RIGHT NOW don't believe it!

We did the Wyndham last April and had a good time. It was a $40 day pass we bought a the hotel desk. It included a really good buffet lunch served in the hotel dining room.

You can use the pools and beach front at both the Wyndham and the sheraton which is next door. The pool a the Wyndham is really nice and has a slide. They also have nice bathroom and changing areas. We took the jitney to Wyndham. It is a couple of blocks from the straw market and port. I believe it was a $1.25 per person. When we were ready to leave my 13 year old daughter didn't want to wait for the jitney, so the doorman at the hotel got us a taxi. I don't remember how much, but it didn't seem to be that expensive because I paid cash and I'm sure I didn't take a lot of money.

They also have a casino on the premises and a gift shop. You could probably visit the straw market on your way back from the Wyndham.

Other inexpernsive options might be a visit Ardastra Gardens/Zoo or take a taxi to Atlantis and tour the parts of the aquarium and hotel that are free.
