Nassau Restaurants

We are going to the Sheraton Cable Beach in Nassau next weekend for a couple of days. We are looking for some restaurants for dinner, other than the hotel. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We don't care if the reataurants are near Cable Beach or downtown.

Also, does any one know if there is a liquor store near the Sheraton? If not, how about downtown.

Thanks.

If you are a couple without little ones, and looking for a special nite out, Villagios Restaurant or Luciano's would be my pick. Simmer Down at Marleys' is also a great venue.

More casual, Indigo or Capriccios, or the Poop Deck at Sandy port.

Downtown is Cafe Matisse on Bank Lane.

For local flavor - Travelers rest (west of the Sheraton) and Arawak Cay's Fish fry would be excellent www.fishfrynassau.com

Try Seafood Haven, Goldies or Oh Andros for the best local fish and conch.

Stay away from Pisces. Horrible food, horrible service

As for a liguor store, there's one in the Wyhdham next door (on the other side of the casino) and others just 2 blocks west of the Sheraton.

Thanks for the info. We are heading to Nassas without kids for a couple of days. We have some friends joining us. Are the first restaurants you mentioned within walking distance of the Sheraton? Also where is the Fish Fry area? Is it safe at night?

Thanks.

Don't eat at the Sheraton/Wyndham unless you're eating at the Italian restaurant or the cafe there.

There's nothing really in walking distance, sorry. The previous poster was correct with some of those good places to eat; I love Cafe Matisse (make a reservation to sit out on their patio even if it is cold, they have heaters!). I don't eat fish, but my family loved Twin Brothers and Seafood Haven at the Fish Fry, plus our favorite taxi driver's favorite is Oh Andros (though he thinks Seafood Haven is too slow).

Of course, Atlantis has many wonderful restaurants. Favorites are Carmine's, Marketplace, Mosaic, Mesa Grill (I haven't been to that one but I have family that loves it), Murray's Delicatessen, Marina Pizzaria, etc. Some of those are costlier than others, so check out prices before you go.

Oh - and if you're staying in for a night or whatever and decide to order in from Domino's, beware that they have no issue with boxing up a literally black (from being overcooked) pizza and sending it out! They do the cheese bread well just like in the States, though.

The fish fry is generally a good choice many different places to eat at good prices. The poop deck is also pretty good. You can usually pick your own fresh Snappers daily. Not many choices within walking distance of hotel. There is a liquor store in the sheraton hotel lower mall between the hotel and the Crystal palace casino.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We'll be there this Sunday. We are two couples without kids for a few days. We plan on going over to the Atlantis one night. I assume that we can take a cab to the other places.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a 3 or 4 hour snorkeling trip?

I've not done snorkeling there, but the hotel does have an excursions desk you can inquire at.

Yes, cabs are readily available - just step outside the front doors of the hotel and tell the employee you need a cab and he'll whistle for one for you (they stand in wait down to the side of the hotel).

First I'd like to say hi to Joey P. It was nice to meet a fellow Cruise Critic member. Sorry the Destiny had the problems.

Secondly, we had a great time at the Sheraton. Everything was wonderful. The hotel was beautiful. We went to the Poop Deck and to Twin Brothers at the Fish Fry. Thanks for all of the advice.

I had read some negative things on Trip Advisor about the Sheraton, but everything we found was good. I would not hesitate to go back there.
