VI Ecotour, same as tour offered by Princess?

I was looking at doing a kayak & snorkel the Marine Sanctuary & mangorve lagoon tour with VI Ecotour which is $69 on their website and noticed that Princess has a very similar tour offered for $89. When I looked into booking the VI ecotour, they said it was 40 minutes by taxi from the cruise port, will it cost $20 or more each way to take a 40 minute taxi ride? If so, would it make more sense to book the Princess excursion which I then know will get me to and from the ship with no chance of missing it?
