Vancouver Hotels (Post Cruise)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, we will now be staying 1 day in Vancouver because Delta decided to change our flight times 2 1/2 hours earlier which we can no longer make!

We will be staying one night May 22nd, 2010 and looking for some good ideas for hotels that are easy to get to from canada place and makes it easy to get to the airport the next morning. Also looking to spend ~$200USD if possible.

Would also like it to be close to shopping/resturants/sightseeing if possible. (I suppose everyone would want it to be like that.)

Any help is greatly appreciated

Downtown Vancouver is very compact. Pretty much any hotel listed as 'downtown' will be a less than $10 taxi fare from Canada Place. The closest to Canada PLace are the Pan Pacific (above the cruise terminal) and the Fairmont Waterfront, which is across the Street.

You might try this site: http://hotel-guides.us/british-columbia/vancouver-bc-canada-place-terminal-hotels.html

I've found it very useful for out July 2010 cruise.

Thanks for this very helpful.

Were looking at the hotels below, little over budget but what can ya do!

Could anyone give us an opinion on location and ease to the airport? They both look close to canada place so that shouldn't be an issue.

The Hotel at Terminal City Club

Hyatt Regency Vancouver

Staying close to the airport really isn't a great experience. Downtown Vancouver is nice and worth staying at. If you want to save the taxi ride to the airport, Vancouver just opening a wonderful new transit line that goes right into the airport terminal called The Canada Line. You can get on it half a block from The Hotel at Terminal City and be at the airport in 20 minutes all for a couple of bucks.

Even the Hyatt Regency is only three short blocks from a Canada Line Station and the fares out to the Airport are $3.75 daytime or $2.50 off peak and weekends BUT be aware that there is going to be $5.00 surcharge for tickets purchased at the Airport for travel into Vancouver - the Airport Authority needs to recoup the $400 Million it borrowed for the extension to the Airport - originally the line was going to Richmond center only.

Hope you enjoy your visit and

Cheers

The Hyatt is a good business hotel that you can walk to from Canada Place if your luggage has wheels. (uphill but very do-able) I've stayed there in the last year and it was fine - a good basic downtown hotel. You are close to Georgia Street, which runs through Stanley Park, or you could continue south over Georgia and would be at the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Robson Street shopping area. There are lots of restaurant choices in the area, too.
