POA - Kona tender port

We have taken a number of cruises, but always take a ship excursion on a day when we have to tender. In Kona, a tender port, we wanted to go off on our own. How does the tender system on POA work here?

Thank you for your help - Cruisecritic people are really so informative.

POA uses a tender sticker crowd control system for all guests who do not take part in ship's excursions. Starting at 7:00am and until around 10:30am, guests who are ready to go ashore are required to go to the Pink's Champagne Bar on Deck 6 to obtain tender stickers and wait there until their sticker numbers are called.

As expected, there will be huge crowds at the beginning and thin out nicely in an hour or two.

FYI: POA uses multiple large lifeboats with 100+ passengers capacity for the process. The tender platform on Deck 3 allows two boats to load and unload at the same time. The tender ride is about 8 minutes.

Hope this helps.

We had a Roberts' excursion for 10 a.m. so we just had a leisurely breakfast and went to Pink's when we were ready to go ashore. The lady in charge said it would only be a few minutes before everyone in the lounge got to leave. And she was correct. It was about 9:20 when we left the ship. We had time for a little shopping before meeting Roberts.

What tour did you take with Robert's?
