RnD Posted March 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Is the Windsurf ever chartered during the month of January? We have some concerns after reading other stories of trips being cancelled because of charters. We want to use miles for the airfare and don't want to have to worry about having to try to reschedule. Charters are always a possibility, especially with smaller ships. Our cruise in December sailed perhaps 2/3 full. It was a terrific trip and we highly recommend Windstar. We lost a RSSC Navigator sailing to an advanced dry dock date, but they made us whole on the cost and out of pocket expenses. That is how we found the Windsurf cruise we took. Several Silversea PAII cruises were lost to charter this coming summer, but ours fortunately escaped that fate. Just know it is possible, but don't let that stop you from booking the cruise you want. 6rugrats Posted March 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Of course it could be. Our cruise in December on the Windspirit was chartered, and of course, it was after we already purchased airfare. We had to pay the change fee and increased airfare price, purchase new tickets and choose a new cruise. And, this was a Foremast Sailing, so we thought we would be pretty protected against a charter. Guess not. There are no guarantees. We did receive some perks. Book what you want and then don't worry about it because there's nothing you can do.
