krmlaw Posted April 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2010 we've only been on a cruise stop before. it is cost prohibitive? too expensive? are there reasonable places to eat? we'd be staying at morritts, if that matters. not enough to do in a week? TurtleTagger Posted April 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2010 Grand Cayman is generally not considered a budget destination. But that is not to say it cannot be enjoyed on a budget, as long as you have realistic expectations about accommodations and dinning. By not knowing your means it not really possible to answer definitively. Checkout these sites for an idea of restaurant costs and grocery pricing (make sure to add 25% to convert to US $) : http://www.caymangoodtaste.com/ (look at restaurants located in East End, Rum Point, Bodden Town and Breakers as they are closest to Morritts) http://www.fostersads.com/content/public/public_weekly_ads.php?collection=6&id=23 (for current grocery pricing) Morritts is located on the East End district, which is known as the quiet side of the island. You will need to rent a car. To save some $ plan on cooking in some nights. As for there being enough to do it really depends on what your interests are. Diving, Snorkeling, Deep Sea Fishing trips are readily available. There are sights like the Queen Elizabeth Botanic Garden, Pedro's Castle, Boatswain's Turtle Farm, Mastic Trail hikes. Other activities like kayak trips, submarine rides, kiteboarding, jet skiing to name a few are also available.
